Betting the Donts
it seems if you bet the dont pass line and increase your bets each time you lose you would eventually come out a winner. you could place a $1 to $5 firebet in case someone got hot. each time a shooter makes a point the percentages are in your favor that he or she will make another point. i usually get scared after 3 points are made and quit betting. i would like to hear someones opinion on this.i am headed to vegas on thrusday. advdel77

Slow grind way to go and be careful not to chase too far when somebody dies catch a hand which will eventually happen. Not many tables have Firebet now if you are looking to use that as some kind of pseudo- hedge

Re: Betting the Donts
I remember a few years back someone else on this board posted this same strategy. I don't remember any key words, maybe except "hedge" and "fire bet" but it probably is still too difficult to find. However I do remember the gist of it, which I do agree with.
The poster said he was having success with betting the don't and increasing it with each Pass Line winner. Several commenters warned him that there is a way he can still loss a lot; come-out winners, and when there are Pass Line winners of the same repeating numbers. This guy hasn't posted since then.
Stopping after 3 losses is smart, and I'd stick with that. Don't hedge with the fire bet because of the high house advantage it carries.

Re: Betting the Donts
The three step martingale with a fire bet or bonus bet hedge will cost you about $1.25 per shooter ;that is if they let you make a one dollar fire or bonus bet on a $10 table. If the fire or bonus bet wins , yoohoo; you will have more chips to continue hedging bets with.
My approach would be to make a $10 DP or DC wager , one loss per shooter , no hedge , which would only give the casino out of your pocket, 14 cents per shooter.

Re: Betting the Donts
Good way of breaking it down DF in terms of average cost per shooter for the two kinds of play.
Only saw Firebet once all week playing at CET properties and that was at Margaritaville. Prob a good thing if it forces you not to hedge as even a $1 hedge is going to cost you more long term than a $10 DP or DC.

Re: Betting the Donts
advdel77,
Since I have been playing craps since 2000, I have posted every session I have played in a notebook , although I have lost a couple of the books over the years. I found that in 2010 I did play eight sessions where I wagered a three step martingale . I only made one bet per shooter so that the three step Martingale was on three different shooters, if it went that far.
For eight sessions, I wagered $5-$10-$20 and played a total of 10.5 hours and lost $225 which , as you see, is 45 units. I did not use a hedge bet of any kind.
The results may have been different , one way or the other , had I used that three step Martingale on individual shooters.

You are the "Poster Child" of conservative craps player.....
....
For those who may not have figured it out....
..
Losing a $5 DO NOT wager followed by making
and
losing $10 DO NOT
then
a third $20 loss
>
Follows the long ago "Rabbit Hole Chase "
One Unit-Two Units-Four Units
.
{ sadly there are gamblers who chase
to the bitter end
$ FUNDS or TABLE LIMIT }
.
A)Bet one unit- lose that bet
B)Follow the single loss with :Bet two units - lose that twice the first bet $ VALUE
C) Follow the cumulative three unit loss(s) by placing at risk four units..
>
The third step down the slippery slope
risks four units
for
a net gain of ONE UNIT..
( or in this example $35 down the hole
Considering further chasing a $35 loss by risking an additional $40 ?
...$35 loss + $40 Lost = $75 )
<
In craps anything could happen....
A gambler could in theory
place progressively LARGER $ VALUE
to the TABLE LIMIT..
>> REAL BALLSEY if it works( there are no awards ceremonies )
ball busting if it kills a BANK ROLL....
just me saying

Re: Betting the Donts
I'm primarily a DON'T player. Normal play is to bypass the come-out roll and make a small DC bet followed with odds.
However, if the established point is a 6 or 8, then I just put a place bet on the point.
If I see a trend of PSO or come-out naturals, then I lay the 5 or 9 (not the established point) accompanied by a large DC bet followed with odds. The lay is most often removed after the DC travels.
Depending if I'm ahead or behind on chip count, there can be variations to the above - such as a 2nd DC; or pressed place bets; or leaving up the lay bet; etc.

My similar strategy:
$10 DC. If it travels then single odds.
If lost with odds, progress to $15 DC If it travels then single odds.
If lost with odds, progress to $20 DC If it travels then single odds.
One loss per shooter. Any loss wait for next shooter.
When a naked bet lost to 7 or 11, stay at same level on next shooter.
No more than three losses with odds.
Goal of $100 win per session.

6dollar6 After the 3 losses do you quit or start over on the next shooter and if you start over how did that workout for you ?

Bassdice --
If my DC's with odds are knocked off by three separate shooters, I'm done.
By that time I'm down more than $100. Chalk up a bad session.
I move on to another table or more often, to another casino.
Over the years I've tried starting over, tried changing to right side, tried chasing.
None of those options have been good for me.

Thanks 6$6 i will take a look at this against by book of rolls.
Re: Betting the Donts
I like to bet the dp/dc when I get a table to myself...even a random roller can beat you up if you get greedy on the don’t so negative progressions are to forget. Just stick to 2-3 flat bet and set dice to seven out asap.
I like to start with 2 then move to 3 bets.
But if someone comes by I never use the plan on them. Been biten hard trying. But if the table looks cold as ice, I’ll try a 2dc from time to time.

Trip report from yesterday using my method above:
Casino Queen -- cold table except for DCs being hit. Within minutes I hit my $100 loss limit.
Hollywood -- Cool Table. Won a couple of bets quickly. Had two $5 coupons which helped.
40 minute session. Won $180.
Ameristar -- cool table with only one long hand. 70 minute session. Won $220.

Re: Betting the Donts
Having a plan and sticking with it plus ,not being discouraged by a losing session is a decent way to approach the game.
6dollar6, do you use a win goal ,as well as a loss limit?

Re: Betting the Donts
My win goal is $100 per session.
But judgement applies.....I don't always stop at that point.
Sunday at Hollywood the table was flowing my way so I stayed around awhile.
Same was true at Ameristar.
Conversely, I will end a winning session well before a $100 win if the tide seems to be turning.
