How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
I’ve been using Irish Setters 2/6 - 4/2 dice set. Rumor has it he uses it. My in casino signature numbers using that set are the 8 and 5. Along with those I’ve also been tossing a huge number of horn numbers. Bone tracker tells me that I have a double pitch problem as the 3-1 and the 6-5 are results of my DP. I don’t want to change sets due to the fact BT also says it’s my best 7 avoidance set and I’m making “real world” money currently using this set place betting the 5 & 8.
I’m not a physic and whenever I try a horn hi yo or horn hi ace duce wager I’ll throw a box number. Frustrating as craps. Any suggestions on maybe a better way to take advantage of the trash or should I just ignore them and bet my strongest two box numbers plus the point?
Thanks

Practice with the field bet. If it is trash, it is located in that area.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
I agree with SIA, place a field bet, you'll get paid off if any of the horns come in, plus it will give you some crossover for the box numbers. I believe Road Runner used to do a field bet, if the dice rolled a horn, he would change his field bet to like a $8 horn.
You also mentioned your signature numbers are 5 and 8, so you hit those, you lose the field.
You could do the iron cross, place the 5, 6 and 8 for like $15, $12 and $12 and a $10 Field bet. So, whatever hits, you always collect something and make a profit(if small at times).

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
This is a topic of great interest to me.
I throw a lot of trash numbers (Horns) followed almost immediately by a 7-out. Once I toss a thrash number; I literally start hyperventilating because I "know" I'm about to 7-out which I don't want to do. If I throw consecutive Horns, my bets are OFF and I'm hopping 7's immediately because I start to over-think my next toss, praying it won't be a 7 and it almost always results in a 7-out.
My big issue is when I see other shooters throw consecutive Horns, I'm hopping 7's on them also. For some players; Tossing Horns is not a negative sign. For me, I've been "programmed" by my personal experiences to expect 7's to appear in the next roll or two.
I will also try betting the Field. Maybe seeing myself getting paid on the Field might help me relax a bit and not think so negatively about Horns...

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
I'd say this really depends on the shooter/set their using. Often, seeing a horn is indicative of a problem with the toss, unless you wanted a horn. How often in the middle of a hand when you've set a point do you want a horn?CrapsForever wrote:For some players; Tossing Horns is not a negative sign.
During my session in Tunica, during the come out roll, I was setting for horns, since I was playing a world bet. I think I was tossing 2-4 horns in a row on my come-out rolls just to get paid off for them. Heavy and I corrupted some random player into betting the world whenever we did.
During another session, SIA, thought my hand wasn't going well because of all the trash I kept tossing in the beginning. Of course during that session I was playing the ATS, and wanted to get those numbers out of the way, plus get paid off for the horns. So, yeah, tossing horns is not necessarily a bad sign.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
Next session I will experiment with a small field bet on EVERY roll. I will track it and see if I’m plus or minus at the end of a few hands. What I know hasn’t worked the last few times out was me attempting to “time” horn bets. NFG! If this field bet scheme is even slightly profitable then I might consider adding the place 6 and run the IC as Pappy suggested.SHOOTITALL wrote:Practice with the field bet. Is it possible that you have made this part of a self-fulfilling prophesy...whereby you freak-out when you toss a Horn...and therefore when your now-rattled next throw does produce that hand-ending 7-Out, it simply multiplies and magnifies all of that "Sky is falling, sky is falling!" panic?CrapsForever wrote: I throw a lot of trash numbers (Horns) followed almost immediately by a 7-out. Yeah, if you don't know what's going to happen with any certainty then the Field bet should work. Consider some variant of the Anything but Sevens play, placing the five, six, and eight and playing the Field. Work on locking up a few hits, then regressing or bringing everything down. Might consider Roadrunner's old Field/Horn parlay system. Play $5 in the Field - if it hits it pays parlay it to a $10 Horn bet. Or . . . and here's a unique idea . . . re-engineer your dice pre-set arrangement into a set that will kick off even numbers.

It is definitely a self-fulfilling prophecy that manifests itself in every single Craps session. It's amazing how we mentally psych ourselves into tossing the "7" when we are too focused in trying not to toss it.Mad Professor wrote:

I was labeled the Point 7 Out (PSO) King due to an overwhelming amount of Point 7-Outs including 10 PSO in a row by me back in June 2012. Due to a really bad short period of horrific shooting; I currently can not put Full odds on the first roll after the Point is established even on my signature numbers of 4 & 10. I have been so paralyzed by the PSO that I have let it completely change my betting strategy even though I have not had a PSO in my past four Craps sessions. The new "problem" is that I am hitting most of my points on the very first roll after the Point is established (Buckshot) so now I am trying to balance betting my Odds between my former PSO image and new more confident but still cautious image.
Regarding the Consecutive Horns, 7-out on the next roll on my toss; I honestly can not remember the last time that I have thrown consecutive Horns then followed it up with a single Box number. It's been definitely over a year.
I'll try the Field/Horn after throwing a Horn and try to "program" my mind to thinking positively and not automatically reach to Hop the 7's. I have decided to ALWAYS pass the Dice to the next shooter after I throw the Dice off the table because I completely lose focus after it happens and it always destroys my shooting day. If the Horn/Field trick doesn't work in my next 3 Craps sessions; I'll start passing the Dice to the next shooter after throwing consecutive Horns in the future.

How do you guys capitalize on "trash" numbers. For that matter, what numbers do you consider to be trash numbers?

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
During any series of tosses ( Tossed by you or another )
.
Were one to consider The HORN Numbers as: " Trash Numbers" ( one roll bet )
AND
THE BOX NUMBERS as : " Not Trash Numbers " N T N " ( more than one roll wager )
.
with THE (7) SEVEN as a "Time Out " number
How many " N T N 's "
would show in your observation
before you placed a wager
in THE FIELD / or HORN ( often considered an unwise bets ) ?
.
If you were to place one Field Wager/(or Horn)
and
that bet lost to a Five , Six , Eight
........... or THE dreaded 7......
.
would you chase the previous lost
Field/(Horn) bet with a DOUBLE THE $ FACE VALUE ?..
and
how far down THE RABBIT HOLE would you choose to chase THE LOSSES ?
just me pondering

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
The modern take these days may well include ATS or something like a 2,3,11,12 repeater. However, the field, especially, when triple on 12 may still be more cost effective.
For small outlay, I'd utilise one of the bonus bets and if my crossed 6s from straight out is working well then it should produce a fair share of extreme numbers. Trash numbers are a good sign here.
If I'm using hardways from straight out and start throwing horn numbers that's a good a sign as any that my throw is in trouble and it's "bets off" time.
Of course if you feel you can throw more trash than average then the most elegant soulution is to head to your nearest crapless table, buy the extremes, and wallow in contentment as the big payoffs roll in whilst knowing you are capitising on the some of the best bets in the game outside of free odds.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
I consider trash numbers all the horns- numbers that don't pay a place bet. They don't impact my game. I don't consider them indicators. I might play the trend by tossing in a Horn High bet or a field bet. Usually I just consider them no harm no foul. My main dice set has the "shocker" as a Primary Face number. So, occasionally I'll go on a streak of ace-deuces.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
For myself, I will take what BD said a step further. I consider any number I am NOT betting as a trash number for me. Since I usually bet 3 or maybe 4 box numbers to start a hand that means even a couple of box numbers are trash until I extend a hand and get on them. I don't get upset about tossing any number I am not on except the dreaded devil but if they do me no good in bringing in money they are just trash in that moment.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
I have been trying to come up with away to profit from the horn numbers since I started tossing X6s back in the summer. I started using it as a comeout roll to try and pick off one of the harder numbers of the ATS on the come out and switch back to 2V for my point set. I had some good success with the X6s and now just stay with it most of the time. As a result I throw a lot of horn numbers. Somedays a disproportional amount. I tried crapless, the first time results were less than stellar. Down 150. In the blink of an eye. I was really disappointed. Had the table to myself and really friendly dealers and box. I think maybe I wasn’t able to adjust to the 14 ft table ( usually play on 12s). Went back next trip and had a +200 win but because of decent rolls and good bets. I still was unable to capitalize on the extreme outside numbers. I will try a session again next trip. Before I go I hope to have time to nock the end out of one of my practice tables and practice for the 14 ft tables.

Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
If you throw an annoying amount of 3/11's, find a crapless game and buy the 3/11 for $25@. Then $75 for $1 every time they hit!
Re: How to Capitalize on Trash Numbers
If you take the field, play 10$ then 25$. Then stop...retry another time. It gives you two chances but don’t push it...pushing a martingale will kill your bankroll.
If you think you tend to field number on a good night. It’s a good way to turn things around.
But personally I rather press a winning bet then a losing one.
Say you have 6&8 for 18+...it gives you a fallback. But don’t over use it or it’ll bite you.
Oh ya. If you win...slide it in a box number(take 5 first). It can get you a cheap spread. Say you win on the 25. You can place 5&9 @ 5$ cost for 10 each. This can bump your session profits on nights it works out. But don’t be doing it on every hand, it’s a gamble.
The field is like playing 00 roulette. It’s fun but only play it when you are being VERY lucky. Lol
