4 or 10 Progression

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

I like it! My preference is to buy the 4 and 10 for $20 each. First hit lock up the win, which gives you $40 in action with $2 at risk at that point (assuming they collect vig on the win). Next hit go to the max based on the $1 breakage. If it's $35 each then you press $15 each and sit there. From that point on I'd press only the number that hits and go to $50 - $100 - $250 - $500 - $750 - $1000 - $1500 - $2500. I can't seem to get it past $1000. I think max is $500 at most of the Albuquerque casinos, so I fully expect to be at that level when we're over there in June.

As Heavy alluded to, the press-schedule for the 4 and 10 offers maximum bet-making flexibility when compared to any other box-number.

By virtue of its ex-vig 2:1 payout-ratio, you get to "Do a lot more with a lot less."

For the most part, the 4/10 press-schedule I prefer is pretty close to H's except in the early going where I like to see you guys lock-in a little more in-rack profit before going for the bigger brass-ring gusto.

That 4 or 10 (only press what's hitting) press-schedule looks like this:

$15...$25...$50...$75...$100...$150...$200...$300...$400...$600...$800
...$1,000...$1500...$2,000...$3,000...$5,000, etc.

Well, my pal Shootitall and I got together for one of our infrequent (these days) lunches yesterday. Between the BBQ and homemade fried pies we had time to discuss the upcoming Albuquerque craps clinlic and some of the betting strategies I've been playing around with - geared toward taking advantage of the lowest cost (free) bets on the layout. I thought I'd share the "low roller special" version of a play I'm kind of liking. It starts off by by-passing the come-out roll and waiting for the point to be established. At that point you toss in $24 and tell the dealer you's like even numbers for $6 each. Remember, you get free buy bets at most of the Albuquerque casinos so you should get paid $12 for a win on the four or ten. We're going to place the six and eight because they are the traditional low vig bets with just a 1.51% house edge. Last of all, we're going to include a $6 Field bet. At this point you'll win on anything except the five or the seven. The first Field hit goes to the five, blocking that hole. You'll continue to make $6 Field bets. If the six or eight roll you will use your payoff to replace the Field bet at this point - locking up $1. If the four or ten roll you'll get paid 2-1 on the buy bet plus $6 in the Field. You can press the four and ten both to $12 and lock up $6, or power press the number that rolled to $24. I suggest using "craps" wins in the Field to press the six and eight up to $12. Once you have your six and eight up to $12 each you'll discontinue the Field bets. Continue to take your wins on the six and eight and press your wins on the 4 and 10 by 50%. Cross your fingers and hope for a long hand.
