i think H posted somewhere 41,31,25 for 194 bet with a 20 pass line pays 134 after vig. Not sure why the 25 on the 6 & 8 i think he was talking about the way someone played. What i have seen played a couple of times was 206 across, 41,31,31.

Typically on Lay bets you're Laying an amount to win $20. On the Four or Ten you Buy the numbers for $20 to win $40, so the opposite is true on Lay bets. You Lay $41 (including the vig) to win $20. Ditto on the Five and Nine. $31 to win $20 on the Lay. You don't Buy the Six or Eight, but the Free Odds bet pays like a Buy Bet - Six to Five. So you Lay $6 for every $5 you want to win. So that's $24 to win $20 plus $1 vig, or $25. Simple math. But don't feel bad. The dealers get paid to do this and they get it wrong all of the time.

Just remember that multiples of $30 work when laying odds on Don't Pass and Don't Come bets. But it you're making Lay Bets that's a different animal.

FYI, most casnios will let you push them up to a $25 win before collecting an extra dollar on the vig, so you could go to $51 no Four or Ten if you wanted.

The idea behind Laying Across (the board) is to potentially win $120 (less $6 vig) by tossing a seven on the Come Out. Your maximum potential loss is $41. Odds are if you knock yourself off a number it'll be an inside number and if you're worth a flip as a shooter you'll turn around and make that point, recouping your Come Out loss and turning a profit off your Free Odds bet in the process.

I knew Heavy would come to my rescue. I was thinking about a couple of casinos in Biloxi that dont have ATS … of course there is the world game too that could be played in conjunction with laying the back wall.

The first time i saw the back wall laid was in REno. I guy scored on it twice in short succession. It got my attention. Its nice to have Heavy around to keep us straight. I get lay odds and lay amounts confused some in the heat of the battle. I havent played them enough to recall them quickly. The last time i played i was trying to calculate how much to give the dealer(becasue i knew she would have a hard time figuring out what i wanted) to lay across. The dice went out faster than my math and yep 5-2 7! Opportunity lost. Besides a nice profit it looks cool when you pull it off.

Yeah, I have seen some dealers fumble with payoffs on these types of bets and others. Especially the ones that haven't put in five years dealing craps. It's amazing how much they have to compute and know instantly to keep the game moving. Was at Scarlet Pearl in Biloxi and they had pulled warm bodies off other casino tables to fill a dealer's spot and it was a nightmare. The box wasn't that great either and it took a higher up to teach while
the game was going on. Felt bad for them, but also hated the session because it was so slow. It influenced how people shot the dice too. Time to leave.

I agree thnick.

"...Yeah, I have seen some dealers fumble with payoffs on these types of bets and others. .."

I very frequently see payout errors on laying the 6 or 8(more often in the players favor).
