MGM Resorts International vs Caesars Entertainment

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

MGM Resorts International vs Caesars Entertainment

Post by Bankerdude80 » Sun Aug 04, 2013 3:36 pm

1) Why is the Mlife comp program much more generous than Caesars' Total Rewards? I seem to get better offers (3nts/$200 Resort Credit/Freeplay) from Mlife than I do from Total Rewards (3/4/5 nts comped [select properties], no resort credit, no freeplay). I usually play both with equal action throughout the year (Platinum at both).

2) I noticed that the Caesars properties limit the odds paid out on some of the sucker craps bets. 15 to1 vs 16 to 1; no triple on the Field, among others. How does that influence their overall profitability at the tables? On the positive side, they do have the Fire Bet. Do these differences influence the decision to play one property over the other?

For the 15 to 1 vs 16 to 1 question, make sure you pay attention as to whether the payouts are listed as "x to 1" or "x for1"

16 for 1 (they give you 16 in exchange FOR your 1)

is the same as

15 to 1 (they give you 15 in addition TO your 1)

Platinum level at MGM is a high roller level.

Platinum level at CET is a low roller level.

However, coupons and comps given by hosts are not based on type of card you have ,but your average daily play at each property.

Thanks Wudged. Next time I'm in town I'll do my homework and make sure I'm seeing it right. I swear some of the Caesars' properties were short changing some payouts versus what I would get from MGM.

Thanks Dylanfreake. I thought for a moment you were going to say " The answer my friend, is blowin' in the wind. The answer is blowin' in the wind..."

I didn't realize the Platinum levels were significantly different, I guess I must've favored MGM during year.

Gold at MGM is closer to the Diamond at CET.

I get more comps and tier credits for my play at MGM properties than at CET properties.

An example : First quarter of this year, I received 51 cents an hour in comps from CET and $3.05 in comps from MGM.
Second Quarter of this year , I received 33 cents an hour from CET and $1.58 in comps from MGM.

The difference in the two quarters is mainly a Las Vegas 4 night trip in Feb. Caesars Palace was more than generous as was Bellagio on the MGM side.

My play in Las Vegas and in Tunica the first quarter were the same so Las Vegas is where you can pile on some comps and tier credits.

DF, you still out there tearing up the Don'ts with your cow-tipping? Or back to the flat bet + odds? Write us a trip report from time to time buddy ;) I really liked exploring your cow-tipping stuff!

I have been Cowtippin`. As I look back on my casino sessions over the years , Cowtippin` has been the big factor in my bankroll increasing . So why buck suck-cess. I just do COWTIPPIN`!!!! BANKROLL $11,665. 20/20/20 25 35 45 60 80 110 . As you can see a 9 stepper. Loss Limit $415. One loss per shooter, that way one shooter doesn`t hurt me , but a group of shooters can.

Caesar's properties are shorting you a buck on many of the prop bets. A $2 High Low pays $29 and up to win again most places. At Harrah's it pays $28. The World/High-Low Come Out play that I make pays $55 at most places when the two or twelve show. It pays $53 at Harrah's. Why? Because they're a bunch of greedy bastards. They're also flirting with bankruptcy at the moment. Funny. If they'd loosen up the slots, bring back 3-2 blackjack, and offer better prop pay-offs and 100X odds at craps, and liberalize the comp system the place would be jam packed with losers. The bean counters just don't get it.

Nice DF! So for that progression you break even if you win step 2 and try to parlay the 3rd step on to get back? Does losing on the come-out mean you are done with that shooter?

With this Dylan-nacchi series the second bet is a same bet, all the others are parlays. I only lose one bet per shooter, so most of my time at a craps table , I do not have a bet on the felt. One of the bad things about playing the Don`t is the comeout (8 ways to lose ,only three ways to win; plus I am playing with naked DP wagers so I do not benefit from zero house edge odds wagers---my being stupid , I guess).

Not having action on the felt every roll is probably why I don`t reap very many comp dollars or tier credits from the casinos. I bitch and moan about that but really I have been very lucky and fortunate.

Gail and I have only played at MGM or CET properties this year (except for a couple of hours at Sam Town , a Boyd property).

MGM properties seem to be better for table games players . CET seems to cater more to slots players.

The best Diamond Lounge I was ever in was the Rio in Las Vegas. Second best was in St.Louis but CET sold that casino and put their eggs into the Cleveland casino (at least I think it was that casino that they needed some cash for).
