Bet Question What Do You Do?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Bet Question What Do You Do?

Post by grinder2017 » Fri Feb 12, 2021 6:01 pm

Inquiring minds what to know what other players are doing no right or wrong answer just want to know what others are doing and is it working. Okay here is the scenario. Come out roll 8 I have $10 on the pass line take $20 odds place the 6 for $18 buy the 9 for $20 (Biloxi). Next roll 8, I collect (I'm a collect 1st and press 2nd guy). 10 pass line bet I roll a 8 take $20 odds make the 8 no other numbers. Come out $10 pass line 8 is the point I press my odds to $40 and hit it. Come out roll $10 pass line roll the 9. Now here is the question do I or you place the eight for $18 or $60 or $20 odds on the 9 or $80 this is a 10X table. Would love the input.

So, if I get this scenario right, that's 6 8's in a row then a 9?

My play these days is 110 inside. Collect first two hits if the point is an inside number, 3 hits if I set a 4 or 10. Then regress to 66 inside (including regressing my odds appropriately if the point is an inside number). After that first hit on 6 or 8 gets power pressed to 42. First hit on 5 or 9 gets pressed to 35.

So in your scenario:
8 - take 30 odds, place 80 inside, not including
8 - collect 46
8 - put 30 odds behind
8 - collect 46, regress placed inside numbers to 48, rack 32
8 - put 20 odds behind
8 - collect 34
9 - pull 9 place bet, put 20 odds behind, place 8 for 42.

with 6 straight 8s then setting the 9 i would bet cautiously on the next roll. I might go off for one roll. If i was feeling really confident and liked what i was seeing i probably would place the 8 for 30. If i was less confident i would place for 18 and go to 42 on the first hit.

Using 22's format. My low risk play.
8 - no odds yet, place the 9 and 10 for $15 each. I hit uptown quite a bit.
8 - collect $10
8 - put 20 odds behind $10 PL.
8 - collect $34, place the 8 for $18 working. Just the 8.
8- collect $21 and use the place bet to enhance odds to $30
8 - collect $46
9 - pull place and use for odds and probably jump my 10 to a quarter and $18 8. But since 10 hasn't hit
all this time..I might consider moving that money over and use it on the 8.

I presume this is how you would bet it if you were the shooter, right? If it's for a different shooter, my answer is different.

With that many eights, the eight is paid for twice over, so I’d consider placing a $42 eight; collect $50 for $1when it hits, then next hit go to $90; and follow the Heavy press moves from there: 90/180/420/900/1800/4200/5000 (table max).

That’s just me as I also like nines, so it can be a race.....

Hi grinder2017

Grinder2017: "...Now here is the question do I or you place the eight for $18 or $60 or $20 odds on the 9 or $80 this is a 10X table. Would love the input..."

Since your #s (8:9:6) have a hit ratio of (6:1:0) I would Plc 8=$60, Pt of 9=$10/20odds as that was your initial point starting amount, and the non-producing #6 would still be at its initial $18. Any hit on the 6 or 9 I would increase the minimal press increment of $5 or $6 and add that same amount onto the 8.

*I know its in hindsight but I would suggest wotco on that second comeout: Work only the 8 after the bk-to-bk hits. Based on your initial outlay amounts maybe comeout on that third toss with $20Pl and Plc 8 @ $36 (13 ways to win) and then plc your 6 for $18. Keep tossing exactly the same, w same set, to same target spot.

Continued success to you,
All the best,
Tgold

First off, on a Six or Eight I'd have started out with $25 odds - not $20. My progression on odds would have been $25 - $40 - $60 in this case.

In the scenario lined out - after your three wins on the eight and establishing $10 PL on the 9. I'd take $20 odds. Take the Six down to $12 (it hasn't paid it's rent and is about to get evicted if we don't get a hit on it very soon). Place the Eight for $90. Yeah, that's pretty almost everything you've won back on the table. WFT? You're hot. Let's gamble. I'm thinking you have about a dozen black chips coming off that eight before it's over with, and then that Six and Nine may come to the party as well.

I like the ideas. 22Inside yes me shooting.
(I presume this is how you would bet it if you were the shooter, right? If it's for a different shooter, my answer is different.)
I really like the idea of placing the 8 after the 2nd hit and have it working on the come out. I also know that I need be more aggressive with my odds. I have to work on increasing the size of my comfort zone on odds I do respect players that take max odds when things get hot.
I do want to let you all know this was on my table at home. I was working on toss that produced good results Tuesday night at the Palace. A low toss from SL1 that landed just in front of a players pass line bet with 4 chips odds bounced over and stayed close to the back wall.
In my scenario after the 9 became the point I took the 20 on the 9 and used it for odds placed the 8 for 24 and 7 out next roll. I'm still a work in progress I've only been playing for 38 years and still learning or trying to.
Thanks to everyone for the input!
Cheers

Exactly why i do this

Call it conformation bias, or some may suggest by turning off it is a self fulfilling prophesy but it has saved me way more than it has cost me.

I like Heavy's take down on the six in this scenario..or move the money on the six to winners? Unless I forget to do it for some reason, I always
take money off of numbers that aren't paying. Yeah..and then they get hot, right? On a real bad day, a 4 is going nuts, I go on it and ten starts in with the 4 asleep in the deep. Switch to the ten..and you know what happens. Excellent signals to walk away.

Yeah chasing is almost never a good thing.

I have a well defined strategy that I come to the table with and that I can play in my sleep. On a hand like this, the one concession I might make to that plan is to accelerate the press schedule on a number when it becomes so dominant. If the hand were longer and a number showed itself for the first time, that might be a signal to turn off my bets for the next toss, but not in this specific case.
