Mississippi Stud

I was talked into playing this game this past week in Vegas, waiting for a craps table to open up to my usual spot, my co worker raved about it. He taught me the basics and some basic strategy tips. Anyone else play this game? Wild variance, streaky, lost quite a bit but then went on a winning spree. Everyone in our group that played some sort of basic strategy (basic = when to increase bets and when to fold) made money. Those at the table who were not sharp betters lost. Thinking it might be another decent game to kill time playing until craps tables free up. Thoughts?

Obviously if it's in a casino then the house edge isn't great. Haven't played it in a while, but don't recall liking it. The same goes for it's related games Bonus Texas Hold'em and Ultimate Texas Hold'em.

You are not suppose to show your cards to the table, but you (and others) can get away with it every once in a while when you have a good hand (e.g. AA). The reason why I say this is, like in actual poker, the more info you have the better. Grab a center seat and you can also see your neighbor's starting hands as most look at their hands non-discretely. I also do the same so other can also take advantage, and thus bet accordingly.

Sal ive been looking at this game and playing it over at wizard of odds hes got a trainger over there on the game and you can see proper stragy for it there. In three days play I highly suggest you leave when 1500 up or even 1000 on good days their was a swing of 500 dollars using a 25 dollar ante. On bad days when the cards did not flow I went 2500 in the hole, Yes playing a fake game I'm up but I leave on a win. Will I try with real money probably in the future if I'm up. Heres why its not like ez bac a great time killer sit down and win 3 units a shoe some time some times not Mississippi is either go home the champ or get your ass whooped either or. Take a 1000 dollar win pray for a royal while playing but know it wont happen.Walk with a win or take a ass whooping 500 is all that I would invest in trying this game so far practice play has 11 straight losing hands before a win expect a loss,

ok played the game tonight won 1000 and then after getting down hit a flush which I should have quit but kept on playing down 2000. Seems like if you hit a flush run like hell with what ever you won it was fun though

Hi Operator, I have never played this game. I think it used to be quite prevalent in London but rarely if ever seen now. Do you know off the top of your head what the house edge is for this game?

I would like to add some thing here which really needs to be said if your going to play this game go over to wizard of odds sight and learn the basic strategy for this game. I watched a women lose 500 the other night playing hands like 32 off suit 56 un suited low pairs . The list goes on and on Saw another guy doing the same deal. What you don't know can wreck you at this game real fast.
Another game I watched but have not played is high card flush while the pay offs look nice on sims I have never won any thing at this game at all glad I played it online instead of the casino.Dont think I will ever play high card flush with real money.

Thanks, Operator, for taking the time to investigate.
Yes, found large swings in positive and negative outcomes...
Will play sparingly in live play, but use it to kill time waiting for the craps table spots to open.
