My two favorite darkside strategies...

1) Naked DP and DC. If one of the bets gets knocked lay enough odds on the remaining bet so that I have a profit on the hand. If both get knocked off I'm done with that shooter.

2) cowtippin' (although my progression is a bit different than DF's)

Both of these strategies are what I would consider conservative negative progressions. IMO, you can't let one shooter beat you up too bad which is the same thing you are saying. My max loss per shooter is 1 to 2 bets depending on which strategy I'm playing. Both of the strategies you mentioned are more aggressive progressions which will work well at times but you will have more streaks that you can't recover from in any one session.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of any strategy that has you increase your bets on a loss.

I agree with Heavy. That straight martingale will get you in the hole fast.

If you are thinking about a negative progression though you should look into the labby 111. Search for it or PM AlFalcons. It does direct you to increase after a loss but only a small amount. It can be used on 50/50 bets like the pass and DP. It's rather unique in it's ability to yield a profit even if you lose a few more bets than you win. Like any negative progression it can bust out, so you need to predefine your limits. But unlike the martingale is has a sort of curve to increase and decrease your betting until you get back your losses (or bust trying) We use it on roulette and it's worked about 70% of the time. We also find it a rather relaxing way to bet since it's totally predefined with no thinking at all. Great when your mind needs a break. ;)

Yo Ron: I would like to put in my two cents here, but actually I cannot until I have just a bit more information. First, WELCOME ABOARD!! You have stumbled onto a great site for craps and other important stuff. Now.
Question: What are you trying to accomplish here? Is this to tread water while the dice travel around the table? Is this the way to play every session regardless? What is the maximum amount you are willing to risk via your bankroll per session?
Ya see, there is no correct answer to your question only better answers. Heavy nailed it pretty much in not chasing on the dark. For more info on this, read some of $5 on tilt sessions where he chased and got winded, dead broke. It does happen. Most on tilt sessions are a function of ego. However, with your above martingale, you would be playing with, as MP so eloquently wrote, juggling chain saws. Anyways, if we had more information, we could certainly give more astute answers.
Since you are new here, you should also get aboard MP's most excellent site, diceinstitute.com. He has a boo-koo of articles on playing the dark. He might refer you to several that delves into using a martingale. The short answer there is: probably best not to. Just like to add too that I hate the thought of Martingale betting - ever increasing amounts just to get back the minimum of profits. You talk about discipline and I am sure there are those that dodge many bullets this way, recouping their small wins along the way - but what about the pressure when say the 4th bet loses? Must be real easy at times to dip into your pocket and try that 4th bet, then the 5th.... and so on and so on. Long term there is only one result and it will be painful as you will either go broke or not be able to place your next bet due to table limits.
