What is your "Best Bet"?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

What is your "Best Bet"?

Post by sharkbyte » Sat Dec 15, 2012 2:54 pm

Having read through MP's articles on making your bankroll work 'harder' for you, I thought I would take a poll of what everyone believes their best single bet is. Or favorite, because with transposition, it is easy to find a set that will maximize your opportunities with whatever bet you wish to play.

No combo bets, as I'm pretty sure you actually water-down your overall advantage. So best advantage bet, or what you would like as your best advantage bet.

Not really having anything, yet, I guess I would go with a Lay 5 or Lay 9. The down side being you need to have a fairly empty table so you get the dice back often.

Hopping the 7's.

Can be profitable by skill & focus, or at times by accident.

Still working it through, but it's starting to look like a $30 6/8, press to $42 on first hit, take one hit at $42 and then down to $12 on each with pressing from there on out (is this the Steve 3 - can't remember it's official name - Heavy?). Lately I've mostly been pounding the 6s and 8s (something like the past 6 out of 8 outings have been heavy on 6/8). I'm still not betting a lot cause I'm trying to determine where my betting dollars will work best for me, but getting there.

Usually on a crowded cool to cold table and on someone other than me. If they look like they are setting I won't make this bet on them.
Wait about 5 rolls, Lay $50. No 4 with a $5. Hard 4. I can usually get away with 2-3 wins.

Currently , since my gambling bankroll is between $9000 and $10,500, a $40 DP .

Should my bankroll slip below $9,000, a $35 DP.

When my bankroll rises above $10,500, a $45 DP.

I guess my favorite, best bet is a "watching the paint dry", DP----somebody`s gotta do it.

Hi Dylanfreak,

I think it would be interesting to plot a chart of your year-by-year bankroll-growth.

Would it be possible for you to go back to the beginning, and mention what you started with (I know about the aluminum cans, but newcomers here may not be familiar with that starting-stake)...and then list your year-by-year bankroll-totals?

That would be quite enlightening.

Thanks,

MP

MP,

I`ll have to do some digging. I have gambling journals going back to August of 2000 when I made my first wager in a casino at a $5 Blackjack table at the Grand in Tunica. I think I can come up with all of them. Most are packed in boxes somewhere . I have exercise journals, journals on auctions which I went to back before 2000 and also journals on my buying of storage units which is now the "new" fad on cable TV. As well as a lot of other journals, some of which I have started destroying .

For someone that hated gambling , I have been very lucky since I made my first wager.

Gail says hello.

I bet you have journals for your garden taters and peppers too!

What really makes you lucky is Gail letting you hang around. :)

I`ve got journals going back to High School. There are boxes and boxes of notebooks. Some pages are so brittle , they crumble.

I told a co-worker years ago that my life was like a bunch of notebooks. A lot of memories , some that I must get rid of.

I don't know if I would say your life is like a notebook. The reason is I know you always didn't stay between the lines. I think you spent a lot of time in the margins.

Thanks for the comment. If I could only do 10% as well with the dice these days. My buddy DF is a hoot and a pleasure to be around. I dug around the internet and found him when he was missing in action. This site is better when DF is around. I am always looking for bizness down south to find a way to get back to West Memphis or Tunica.

Traveling to Owensboro KY tomorrow and driving back Friday. Thought about Aztar for a drive by session, but remember those tables to be real bouncy. Great VP but the dice wasn't fun.

The golf game was good this year. I got the index back under 10. Let the dice game slide this year, but will give it a shot after Christmas. Might even pull the practice dice out and start gripping and tossing a little. We will see.

Don't forget to Hop the Red.
