Had a good week at the tables this week. Thanks to all the members on the familiar boards my DI seems to be coming along. I've been at this less than a year and so my whole game has been evolving. I'm finally getting to the point of having enough confidence in my roll to bet more on myself. I actually stood and watched a couple of randies go by. LOL!
A couple of them even had good hands. DAMN thats painful.
I've started using an UH Roll that seems to keep the dice down on the table better. They tend to roll better and not bounce quite so much. I am a decent bowler. LOL! I was really having a hard time finding an OH Toss that would keep the dice down, no matter how low I threw them. I had a few good hands 12+ plus rolls and one hand hit 5 point numbers. Once I make my point, double odds if its 6 or 8 and single odds on anything else. Then 34 inside, if the point is an inside number I don't place it. If I get 2 hits, I regress to $6 6&8, then start pressing every other hit. Seemed to work OK. Just don't have that confidence level yet.
When I did bet on randies I used 22 Inside, mostly working on the come out. Getting that first hit on the come out, really seems to make it work. 2 hits, regress to $6 6&8 and wait to see what unfolds. $2 profit. I would press if the hand continued, but many times it was 2 hits & 7. Some, whacked from the get go. I would try to wait until I saw the shooter either pick up the dice and/or shoot. I did make a small profit and it kept me in the game.
My last session this week was a really choppy table. So I tried $25 DP then $12 6&8 place bet. I think I got it off Dicesetter. Worked really well. A couple of craps on the come out, NICE. I kept thinking maybe I should hop the 7s or lay the 4 or 10 on the come out to hedge the DP. But I didn't. Ended up not getting knocked off. On one hand, the point was 6 and I still placed the 6&8, the shooter hit 3 8s and 7 out before a 6.

I played 5 sessions this week, about 2 hrs per average. Four different casinos. One was the day after a late night session(where I hit the 5 points), same casino and table, it was a disaster. PSO! Gave back 50% of my winnings from the night before. 20/20 Hindsight, I was forcing it when I knew it wasn't working.
Anyway, ended up almost doubling my bankroll for the week.

In 2013 we're going to roll out our first seminar dedicated to teaching the underhanded toss. Seems like more and more people are trasitioning to what I sometimes call "the lobster shot" that I thought we'd go with the flow on it. Watch for details by Christmas.

I experimented with an underhand shot. I threw the top of my set back-to-back three times in a row with that shot, the first three shots here at the house the other week. That was right before I recorded the three hard 8's with no easy. But in between I recorded rolls with the underhand shot and had no consistent results at all. I couldn't get anything accomplished! So it was probably just dumb luck getting three pairs from the top of my set back to back with that shot. The three hard 8's with no easy I got on film, I swapped back to my other shot. I still have the video from the underhand shots I did and they were horrible. Those are the only recorded rolls that I made that I haven't disclosed. On video I verbalize it was experimentation with another throw and I didn't intend to lump it in with my other throw data.

Part of the frustrating thing with this game is that you have to focus in on something to get the motor memory behind it, but there are only so many things you can focus in on.

It has been a very big deal for me to change two things in the last four months.

The first was that I switched from stick right one to stick left one.

The other was that I changed my set from boxcars to 4242.

So I already feel like I'm coping with those two changes, and I'm afraid to spend too much time on a different throw.

But I don't disagree that there might be some payoff from making the switch. I just have way too much time invested in my other throw. It seems like a huge risk for me to change, but I wish, sometimes, I was just starting so I would not be walking away from the possibility of pushing further in the direction I'm already going and getting further sooner than changing things up.

My beliefs, in general, are that consistency is much more important than technique. By that I mean if you have a great technique with no consistency, you might be better off with a horrible technique with better consistency. The consistency demands repetitive muscle memory to be built. And every tiny things has an effect! That's what I see on video. The consistency required to make something more likely to happen even one extra time in 70 times is very difficult to accomplish in my opinion. And I haven't even proved to myself that it's even possible. But assuming that it is possible, it is very difficult to accomplish in my experiences so far.

MP has published two " Shooters Bibles" the first edition you can get on Amazon like Heavy mentioned, but the updated one is a bit more expanded and its available as a E-Book download if you prefer.

There is an incredible amount of dice/craps information here that has accumulated over several years and its easy to get a bit confused sometimes. Its especially harder for the newer members who seem at times to be overwhelmed. Not to worry, when in doubt ask. There are always plenty of answers here.

If you get a chance to pick up MP's book its one of several that would be good to use to begin a craps library.
