The $900 Toss - Making the ATS

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

The $900 Toss - Making the ATS

Post by DarthNater » Sat Aug 08, 2020 12:51 am

There’s another thread on this sub-board that addresses tactics and betting the ATS; as well as whether a DI should do it. I want this thread to be where we share our ATS successes and what worked and didn’t work, so we can hopefully all learn while hitting it more often.

So here goes......as I’ve posted, I’ve been practicing with sets focused on the ATS. Tonight I’m shooting SR1 with plexiglas and mask, after dinner with no warm up, it’s my first hand today. I Needed a 12 & a 3 tonight on a $5/5/5 ATS, made the twelve on about the 12th or 13th toss, then made the point two tosses later; then followed with the ace-deuce on the comeout. While, I had my set changes ready, I stayed with the same set as it had the shocka on axis with my 4226 set.

I Thought about changing sets, but opted to stay as was dealing with dangling hands, chips in the LZ, and 20-something dic*wads, that fortunately the player next to me decided to call out....and offered to punch out....just another Friday at the dice pit.

Here’s a rail pic after the payout:

Ok, who’s next?

Let’s hear how you hit it and your preparations for success

Nice win Nate. I have hit a number of ATS with a comeout craps number. I have also changed sets to the 2V to pick off the shocka even though i hit it with my regular set as well.

Thanks for starting this thread. Its nice to know another player that pursues the bet. I have always liked the bet but often temper my comments about strategies and playing it because so many players as well as casinos believe it is a bad or at least a novelty bet at best. I think that is actually a good thing. As long as that is the consensus the bet should be around , although with the lower payout and not letting you reset after hits that is creeping in everywhere i worry that some casinos are starting to believe it isnt such a good bet for them. Hopefully they are just greedy.

BTW, with your recent halves and this full hit you should be in the black for alot of ATS pursuits. Maybe even progressions on the horizon, yea i know thats crazy talk but you have to be a little crazy to play craps in the first place right?

Yep, since the Vegas reopening > +$1100. For the year even higher thanks to a few buddies, some lone wolf adventures and the Palms (all that dialing in and cross-tracking paid off). I was thinking progressions all the way, but as I'm already ahead, I'm thinking press the Small and Tall bets and keep charging, DN8R

Nice win DN8R and great start to a new thread. Treat yourself to another cool Hawaiian shirt with some of those winnings, or take Mrs. DN8R out for a nice dinner. Live on the edge a little...

Are there are any 34-175-34 tables to play, or is everything 30-150-30?

They're getting more rare by the day.

This was from a trip a few years ago to the Beau in Biloxi. I had been to the Beau many times before but decided to change my practice rig before this trip. I made it as bouncy as I possibly could. During my first practice session it was tough to keep the dice from bouncing out of the rig. By experimenting with different shot tweaks I actually got used to it. My thought was that if I could handle my super bouncy rig the Beau would be less intimidating.

My buy in was $400. The first time I tossed the dice I could tell a huge difference in the playability factor. Second time went 3-4-3 on the ATS with 1-1-1 for the crew and bam. That ATS hit was one of my most gratifying ever. The next morning lightning struck again at the 5-5-5 level. That afternoon a lady who had been at the table in the morning went 25-25-25 when she recognized me. I got my 3rd hit for the trip. She tipped the dealers $500. I would have been happy if she had just offered me a thank you…. that never occurred.

Tips the dealers and not the shooter who made her the money? Arg.
EDIT = want to make it clear that I believe in tipping dealers - just ALSO players in such extraordinary circumstances.

I don't begrudge dealer tokes as those guys work for minimum wage plus tips and in markets outside of Vegas they generally get shit for tokes. But when you're talking $500 tokes I agree. Toss the shooter a black chip or two and a couple of black ones to the dealers - then everyone's happy.

Don't take it wrong....I was plenty happy! Sure I'll never turn down a tip but I never expect anything from any player. I'm old school my parents taught me to say thank you when someone does something nice for you. Just common courtesy is all I'm interested in. Over 6 grand is pretty nice in my book.

At that level I tend to agree. Shooter tokes are never anything that I worry about....On a hand like that I would have made enough that a few bucks would not mean much...But like Coaster, I would never turn it down...

That being said...There is one thing that I very much like..which has happened several times. (Last time on Christmas day) While shooting at a table full of strangers, my hand ended and without a sound, everyone at the table decides to pass the dice right back to me. It is like one of those stadium waves. Way better than a green chip or two.

I got a little brave at times this weekend and went house max of 25/25/25 a few times ...
I hit the the small twice, i could never get the 12 on one of them, the last small i hit i had a come out 7 needing 11 and 12 ..

A bit of a rush, and i think it did help me stay focused, as those rolls were in the 30s .... lost one to sticky dice (i can blame it on that, no way it was my fault). If your not dialed in, its an expense to your bankroll.

I had success with ATS by switching 3 sets ...makes different numbers pop quicker for a dice influencer.

If you throw right you should be repeating numbers, so switching sets make sense.

I use 2vmod, 3v, X6's and switch up every throw, you should try it out for yourself.
