Horn GWAG

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Horn GWAG

Post by crapsjourney » Mon Feb 17, 2020 2:39 am

Hi folks

I have a local table that has $5 min on prop bets.

I’m toying with my GWAG game within a game on the come out, to include some prop action that I’ve never used before.

I usually buy in with $300 or $400.

Since a horn at $5 min starts at $20, and I have a small buy-in, I don’t have stones to blow $20 each come out roll.

I’ve realised that I should use the C and E as the poor mans horn for $10.

First hit take $35 for craps and $75 for eleven. Put $20 on horn.

And go from there.

Does anyone else do this ?

I don't think the $20 is correct for the horn as that is not betting a horn but horn numbers individually. You should be able to toss out a $5 horn bet, high on X. Or $4 horn, $1 seven. If I am wrong, my apology as I have never play the props except HWs. I really cannot imagine a $5 table where the C & E are $5 each. Phone the casino, as for the pit and get clarification.

Why not use the Any Crap bet for $5. It pays 7 to 1. 10 PL or $15.....$5 Any Crap. All kinds of press option on a hit.

Horn Hi Ace Deuce for right side come out, if you must have something on the yo. Otherwise craps check. If you throw more 1/2 them 1/1 and 6/6 combined like I do, just bet the 1/2.

Thanks guys for your thoughts.

Australian casinos are $5 min on all prop bets.

So a horn is $20 minimum. C and E $5 each minimum.

Horn high anything is $25

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and instead of suggesting bets, suggest that you pass altogether on the GWAG play given the size of your bankroll. Unless you have some ridiculous demonstrated edge on those numbers. Perhaps consider it if you got up big on your regular play. But at a $300-400 buy in, $5 min on a GWAG play is too rich.

So you say he’s on a journey to bankruptcy? Maybe not with a $1000 buy in.

I would put the extra $20 on whatever box number I toss the most. A Less exciting bet but I believe I would make more in the long run that way than betting the GWG. At least that is how my numbers shake out with my toss.

Unfortunately here on the Strip there are several places now doing the $5 center minimums Bellagio (intermittently), Bally's, and even last month at the Mirage. Also MGM National Harbor has a $5 minimum on center action including the ATS - those are $25 minimum tables. Last week Bellagio had a $100 table with $25 minimums in the center.

Really cramps the GWAG strategy. Like 22Inside says - be sure of your advantage at these thresholds. It can be great when it hits, however from my observation mileage (and bankroll) may vary, especially if you're puckering at those minimums. There are two tables presently that I know well enough to feel comfortable to do it; though I would likely make it a $25 World. Otherwise look at your book of rolls and only bet the numbers that warrant a bet, good luck, DN8R

Wow. After reading the above, I have not gotten out enough. I was mistaken which is not that uncommon. Must be a reason I have never played the props. Oh yea: Too much for too little. Now I remember. Sorry guys, just being facetious. Man, those prices can put a real hurt on your BR.

DN: Now that I have thought on this a little, I have a feeling it is so the Casino will cut out about 95% of the props and therefore can get in maybe 25% more rolls per hour where the real money is. Just noodling on it a bit. sia

Yeah, I know that's got a lot to do with it. National Harbor also says $5 min on the ATS as well & they aren't hurting.......

Actually the center section of the table is the real money area for the casino. The odds against you are higher. Sucker bet area. They love to have piled up bets there. Yeah it can slow the game which is why they put their fastest people at stick. You rarely if ever see a stick who fumbles bets like the dealers on either side of the box who may have less than five years at it. Dealers have told me..and it's pretty unanimous that it takes at least five years to become a good craps dealer.

Many thanks, so many good points have been raised.

$25 world I feel is too rich for my $300 session bank roll at nearly 10%.

I feel the poor mans Horn and World substitute of $10 Pass line and $5 each on C and E is my pathway to the full World at $25 after the first hit.

The $10 PL covers the $10 C & E in case of the seven.

Then I’ll go to $25 World on the first score hit.

Ok, we’re lighting up this topic again.

Since I’ve spent most of the last year focusing on my straight out toss and building books of rolls, I haven’t spent bankroll on GWAG efforts for my hands. This primarily due to first tossing out my first book of rolls after making several tossing refinements to my straight out toss and then secondly due to the fact that my last full book of rolls didn’t produce overwhelming Horn numbers.

Then last week at the Bellagio, I noticed BankerDude started doing GWAG on my comeout and winning on each of my three hands. This got me thinking, so I went to my current, partially full, book of rolls and indeed there’s some transposes in BT that are now Horn rich. Normally I don’t pick thru a book until it’s finished to avoid biasing, but it’s good to see that as my consistency on straight improves that the potential for GWAG might also be evolving.

Im seeing a couple of mutants in a Coaster Chart with the same high SRR and a high propensity of horns. I’m actually thinking for the first toss on the GWAG comeout to make a horn bet instead of the World bet. Yeah, the increase in the Horn percentages has me thinking to either skip that extra buck or put it on the ace-deuce instead of seven.

So what’s your GWAG play? I know Heavy has gone from World/Hi/Lo to World/ace-deuce, what are you doing and why?

My GWAG consists of a seven heavy set and a robust line bet to take advantage. This set must also be heavy in 6 faces to negate low craps numbers. But normally I chicken out and add a $5 crap check per $35 line bet.

Mine varies, but usually a 4 and 1 horn, if i am unhappy with dealers a horn high ace deuce. On the 4 and one bet a hit on the 2,12, or 11 i press, if the ace deuce hits i let it ride occasionally i will toss another dollar on the ace deuce depending on how it rolled. On the horn high ace deuce bet i press on 2,12,11 and if the ace deuce rolls i move the bet to the world and add a dollar ace deuce.

Generally, World + Ace-Deuce although if it looks like I've been tossing lots of primary face hits during the hand, I'll kick in an extra $2 and go World + 3 way craps as the 2/12 are PFH's with the X6 set I use for GWAG.

If I toss a 3 or 11, go up a unit on both bets. If I toss a 2 or 12, go up 2 units on each.

HoO,
I’m curious on why the $5 crap check instead of a $1 3-way craps plus a $1 ace-deuce? Or since you’ve 6’s on faces a horn high ace-deuce?

Thanks, DN8R
