$10.00 To bet with...how would you play

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

$10.00 To bet with...how would you play

Post by wiremonkey » Mon Nov 21, 2016 12:31 pm

Hello all, would like to pose the following question to The Forum. How would you play just $10.00 dollar's on a craps table. What prompted this question was a play I saw last week at my local casino. I see it every once in awhile and i just shake my head, most of the time the player gets no were, but every once in a while, theres that one lucky SOB that walks away after 30 min. With 3 or 4 hundred in there pocket. Prop bets, Hardway bets, hop bets, Yo bets, or just plan old grind out the dark side bets. So chime in, no wrong answer, just musing. Wiremonkey

So..how did they bet? Assuming a $5 table, you could wait for a DI or rhythm roller and see what they set for and maybe go for a 5$ PL and $5 world. Or $5 PL and odds if 6 or 8. It's a crapshoot.

Nov 21st 2016

This is my end of the month trip report from July of this year 2016. I started the month with $20. I got lucky in the beginning.

From July 31st 2916

Look at the bottom of the page.

"Well I can’t believe it. I made it though the month of July starting with a $20 bill. I was pretty darn lucky at the beginning of the month, I have to say that. Once I had built up somewhat of a bankroll, I felt a lot better and I stuck to my strategy on the Don’t Come.

I played 22 times

I lost 1 time only because I started out playing late at night and by 2 am I said, “I gotta go to bed," and left down -$55.
I won the other 21 times.

I started with $20 and ended the month of July with +$892 minus a $60 computer mouse I bought with my winnings. That brings my winnings for July to +$832" :D

How would you play just $10.00 dollar's on a craps table.
I see this nonsense all the time. An idiot walks up to the table and drops $10 in the Field. The 12 rolls and it's triple on the 12. He picks up the $30 win and puts $10 on the Big 6, $10 on the Big 8, and $10 on the 5. Now he breaks even on the five, six, and eight and gets paid on everything except the seven. The 12 rolls again and the guy parlays it. Boom, aces roll and he locks up another $100. Then he starts with the prop bets. $1 YO. It hits. All the hardways. They start popping. Parlay. Parlay. Parlay.

Amazing.

At the Horseshoe in Bossier many years ago I saw a guy with four red chips wait for the dice to get all the way around the table so he could shoot. He beg $5 on the PL, set a point of nine and took $10 odds, then got all of the hardways for $1 each. He had a single $1 chip left in his hand, and he had a death grip on it his entire hand, which lasted somewhere between thirty and forty minutes. When it ended he colored up around $2600. I talked to him about it later and he told me he had another $4k in chips secreted in his pocket when he left the table. Basically a $6600 win off $20.

Shit like that happens. When you see it you just want to head over to the roulette table and watch the marble go round and round. . .

Fat chance that I would do any of this but if I only had $10 to spend and I wasn't the shooter and if they let me make $1 bets without a pass line I would probably go for high big bets one dollar at a time and try to get a lightening strike. This really dates me but I kind of liken this to when I used to walk around the casino with a bucket of quarters and put one or two in each slot machine trying for that big payoff.

Just another comment. Wiremonkey said "but every once in a while, theres that one lucky SOB that walks away after 30 min. With 3 or 4 hundred in there pocket." Would guess that lucky SOB has done this betting multiple times and that 3 or 4 hundred isn't even close to covering his losing betting with this style of play. It always looks great when you see that big winner at the tables but there's usually another totally different story behind those wins. Just my opinion.

Thanks guys for all of your comments would love to hear from other members of The Forum again no wrong answer just musing. $5Bill you came to mind when i wrote this, been following youre Adventures, enjoy youre post. Rhythm Roller i think youre on the money, one of the regulars on the weekend at my regular casino will go to hopping numbers when he gets down to his last 10 or 20, he rarely wins. Heavy, thers a guy at my local casino that i referred to as Surfer Joe as he looks like one of those forty-something Surfer guys from California the dealers tell me he's a regular there who really plays a lot of Poker but from time to time he'll run up to the table when someone is on a come out roll and drop five to seven hundred dollars on prop bets. $300 hop the reds $400 high low, crazy crap like that, again only seen him hit once, then he parlayed it away on next shot. Keep it coming guys and gals, just something to catch a laugh over.

This sort of ties into the same topic. Being the Holidays, not uncommon for visiting family members to request joining on a casino trip. They'll typically have $100 to play with, not $10. What advice do I give to the recreational family member with $100 to spend?

Bill-- I've not seen any updates from you in a while. Are you still grinding higher?

Flextime, I bumped up a thread for you where discussion takes place on playing a short $100 bankroll.

However, in that thread a lot of suggestions revolve around DP and DC, which to be fair is probably not going to be a lot of fun for the recreational player :) Typically I'd say stick to the obvious passline with odds and 6&8 or check out Heavy's heat seeker strategy which I think from memory places no more than 3 units at risk at any one time in the hope of catching a hand along the way.
