I was in Biloxi this past weekend playing with the usual suspects at the Grand at the crapless table. Seated next to me was our veteran player / instructor SIA. I bought in for $500.00 and proceeded to bet on the horn numbers in a rather unorthodox fashion. It didn't take long for SIA to give me the look and ask "What the H E double hockey sticks are you doing?" I answered: "I am playing with my stupid money." He gave me a really funny look so I explained to him my concept of "Stupid Money".
You see long before I came to this forum, I used to go to casinos and donate my bankroll playing stupid. Well since last year (when I found this forum) and read some of the great posts about betting strategies and what you are supposed to do at the tables, I stopped wasting my bankroll and started playing craps as a serious player. However, there is still that person in me who every now and then wants to do something stupid at the table. When I say something stupid I don't mean watching trends and betting. No something stupid like $30.00 on each hop bet or something like that. So in order to satisfy the need and not touch my bankroll, I dedicate a very small portion of money to what I call a stupid session and usually do it on my own without the group. That money is called "Stupid Money". It keeps me focused on the tables when I am using my payroll. It just so happens that this time I did it in front of HEAVY who had the look on his face like I am going on "TILT", Howard who was about to sign me up for therapy, Wizard who was having heart attacks on my bets and SIA who was about to take me out to the woodshed.
Sometimes I use the money on a black jack table or slots but I get it out of my system. Try it sometimes you may like it.

Okay usually it's for a hundred or so but I had a free slot play for 120.00 that I converted to 400.00 so I figured I use that. 
Let's face it if you're going to do something stupid ( and a lot of people here do that but don't profess it) then do it without touching your bankroll. Hey that works for me and I decided to share some of my "Tactics" (not method or strategy) for free. I could have charged you 1500.00 for that TT but I chose not to be selfish...

Actually, that's not the definition of "Stupid Money". You stood a chance, however small, of recouping the money you gambled.
"Stupid Money" is a truly altogether different concept. There's no gambling involved. It's money lost outright because you were stupid. I can think of several examples. The first is from personal experience...
1) We used to have two cars, one was a diesel that my wife drove exclusively, and the other a gas-powered car. You can see it coming as you read it, but in real life, driving into the gas station to fill up, it's not so easy to remember... (At least in my experience, when confronted with such a mundane task, the brain detaches to rote action...) and so, after driving her car for the first time in two years, I brainfarted and filled it with gasoline. $1800 dollars later, that Mercedes had new seals, gaskets and a new fuel filter.
1a) Honorable mention category: Go buy a garden hose spray gun for $8. Put it on the stepside of the pickup truck bed so's you can adjust things in the cab to make space for all the stuff you've purchased. Drive off so you can wonder where t'hell that sprayer went to... go back to Lowe's and buy another. (this one's my 'stupid money' story, too; it absolutely qualifies under the concept, but the money lost is certainly trumped by my shining example of diesel stupidity.)
2) Falling off a roof because you were too cheap to hire out a $40 repair for chimney flashing--use two weeks sick time spent mostly in bed for a broken wrist and a bad back that bothers you to this day. (not me)
3) Falling off a roof because your tennis shoes didn't grip the composition shingle (asphalt and rock) in the summer heat. Your best estimate is, you saved $80--the cost to install an exhaust turbine.The asphalt got so hot it slid beneath your shoes. As you fell off this second story roof and tried to stop yourself, the roofing material functioned just like 24 grit sandpaper, literally skinning the fingertips and palms of your hands to an equivalent of 3rd degree burns. Stay off work for 5 months; use up all your vacation and sick time. Persevere through 4 reconstructive surgeries. The good news is, in the end, you'll have full function of both hands (keeping in mind that you saved $80!!!). (It is *really* fortunate for the previously-exampled cheapskate that this isn't his example, too; nor mine.)
4) Buy yourself a 25 HP, 48" deck lawnmower; pay a "reasonable" $3500 for it. Figure out on your own that you didn't do enough research (and you shouldn'ta taken the salesman's estimate as gospel--it takes almost 7 hours by your estimate) to cut the 6 acres of grass on your property. Yup; you're right... "reasonable" price, my asp, you say (you said it, not me). Sell it after one season for a $1500 loss, and buy the $9,000 72"-deck mower you should have bought in the first place.
I'll stop there. It's givin' me a headache... but the moral is obvious. Ain't a nickel was made for any of these "stupid money" stories.
And (if I'd consulted all) of the 8 people whose stories I could have recounted, four of eight "doctors" would have agreed-- there's 50/50 chance that a truly "stupid money" play would/should cause physical pain.

I can relate! I think my bankroll is much different from yours but here is what I do.
If I go to Vegas for a week I allow myself $100 of stupid money for that week. I keep it separate from my other bankroll and expense money and I just use it for frivolous bets. Actually, to me a frivolous bet is any bet on the table that my recorded edge can't support. I guess that actually includes most but the very low edge bets. To me even a buck on a Hardway is frivolous. Anyway, I allow myself these bets if I really want to make one but I don't use the money all on the same table or even the same day.
Anything I might win from that stupid money bet goes back into my stupid money account to support those bets. Once I actually made a 5 point Fire bet but just couldn't put that money back into high edge bets so I just put it into my regular 401G instead of my stupid money account.
Maybe some day I will either want to quit making all stupid bets or my edge will grow to support some of those frivolous bets as well founded. Until then I can maintain my discipline better by giving myself a fun break once in a while.

Dork: That is hilarious. I think we have all done stupid things. My earliest recollection of something really stupid: I was either 14 or 15, can't remember but I was driving to the lake to go fishing. I came upon this line of cars going not too fast, so I started passing them until I was behind the hearse. Thank goodness no one recognized me or I would have never heard the end of it. At least money was not involved.

I've planned something similar if or when I play with my brother or sister in law in Vegas--I put (was fun now called stupid money in your honor) 100 or 200 in an envelope separate from my own daily craps bankroll. Since I'll spend more attention helping them, so I'm treating that amount as something extra.
2 things: my wife thinks I'm spending too much time thinking about managing my gambling money (stoopid or otherwise); another part of me still thinks that when playing with in-laws, I should just play the DP and call it a night

The stupid money I bring to a casino is usually a separate bankroll I use on the games that have a higher house edge than some of the better craps bets. I play a few different games for the entertainment they bring and if I need a break from the craps tables. It could be slots, roulette, 3-card Poker, etc. Keep in mind I hate losing and I refuse to chase my losses. I maintain strict win/loss goals while playing these other games. A good hit on the right slot can easily add to the craps bankroll. I don't live near a casino that offers craps, so I only get to a casino once every couple of months (occasionally once or twice per month). I prefer the Las Vegas strip. I live in a state that offers tribal casino gambling, but I dislike it immensely. I think the hold and pay volatility on their slot machines is significant and I would rather conserve my bankroll for the trips to the craps tables.
