Can you throw the 7?

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

Can you throw the 7?

If so keep reading. You are at a $10 table with 20X odds. All shooting is from the DP. Set a point (we'll pick the 5). Place $30 in odds. No other bets. Throw the 7 before the 5 you win $10 DP and $20 odds. Dice go around the table and you get them again. Six is your point this time. Take your original $30 odds bet, your $10 win on the DP, and your $20 odds win and use all $60 as odds on your DP. Throw the 7 before the 6 you win $10 DP and $50 odds. Dice go around again you set a point of 10. Take your $60 odds from the last hand, $10 DP win , and $50 odds win and use it as odds on your DP. Throw the 7 before the 10 you win $10 DP and $60 odds. Dice go around again. You get them and set 8 as the point. Take the $120 in odds from the last hand and the $60 odds win and use it as DP odds. Throw the 7 before the 8 and you win $10 DP and $150 odds. Total win on all four hands is $320 for $60 risk (original $10 DP and $30 odds, second hand $10 DP, and third hand $10 DP).

Thinks that's too hard? Go to your practice rig and try it. You can adjust the bet sizes to fit your budget. I know some members will argue that you don't have just $60 at risk you also have all of your winnings at risk. We all have to stay within our comfort zone when betting to stay relaxed when shooting. The $60 risk is worth the $320 reward to me. You know the adage "If you want to make money you have to spend money". So if you can throw the 7 with some regularity and tolerate a $60 loss give it a try!

Interesting strategy.
Have you tried it in live play yourself?

No. I have been tossing for the 7 but keeping my odds at $30, $60, or $75. I have been trying to find a way to capitalize on tossing for the 7. I am going to give this a try friday or next week. Another thought is when you get that rash of 7 outs (from RR's) on a cold table and use your winnings off the first bet to fund the next two or three. Of course you are depending on RR's.

If you can get together a few guys and gals who can bring back the seven within 2 - 3 tosses without bringing back the point we can all be rich pretty damn quick.

I noticed this lately. 1) When I make more than three bets on myself, I seven out pretty quick compared to only making two bets tend to throw longer. 2) I tend to be a streak shooter.

While not quite what Roller is talking about, I would look for a 7-rich set, with a low outside # distribution, and set a bunch of Lay bets for the CO. Though in my thinking, once the point was established I would pull down the Lays and bet normally.

If I get 5 or 9 as the point I usually have no problem sevening out with the 5/2 6/1 set. The last time took me 8 tosses from SO but only one toss had an off axis die so my odds of not making the points of 5 or 9 are pretty good.

So the question is:

Can you throw four (4) parlayed-Odds DP anti-Points in a row?

~Random-expectation puts that at 1-in-7.7 (12.96%).

~Depending on your D-I shooting-skills, your chances should generally improve accordingly.

~However, if the sheer amount of the Lay-Odds you have in play during your final-parlay are going to negatively-affect your shooting-focus with bet-value anxiety; then much of your pos-ex advantage may be diminished.

I'd be fine with a shooter who could toss a seven out ONE time on demand. If I had TWO such players I could station each on separate tables and wander back and forth between tables, laying the point at the appropriate time and collecting my winnings. Three shooters? Three tables. You could still parlay bets if you wanted - but on different skilled shooters. Bet-win anxiety? I'd want shooters who knew how to put the blinders on. By the way, this is a strategy we'll be covering in the Team Play session at Crapsfest this weekend.

Can I throw the 7??? I might just be the man for that job.

*My comeout roll which is a Horn Set (5/6 6/5) is very rich in 7's.

**Though it's mostly unintentional....Most of my 7-outs occur on the first roll of the Point Cycle hence my most recent Craps title "PSO King".

***If I throw a Horn # on the first roll of the Point Cycle, I almost always 7-out without throwing a single Box #.

Players laying #'s on my comeout roll and on the first roll of my Point Cycle tend to do well when they play with me.

My #1 ADVICE to anyone playing with me on a Craps table:

*PLEASE do not make any "Right-Side" Bets on me until I throw a Box # regardless of how many Points I made* The very first roll of each Point Cycle is my weakest...and this is where most of my 7-outs occur.

Funny story about one of my more infamous 7-Outs below:

-----------------------------------
Bethlehem Sands 5/26/2012

Personally, I had one of my most consistent nights rolling the dice in a long time, I had several great rolls and called "OFF" my bets at the absolute right time when I was rolling. On my rolls alone; I made over $500 in profit. The tables were too packed and I did not have the patience to just wait for my rolls. I got into an altercation with another craps player (Explained in further detail below in "BABE RUTH CALL") while I was having a great roll....a player walked up to buy in during the game...I BEGGED the player to wait until the puck was "OFF"....he didn't wait. No reasonable explanation but a player buying in during my craps roll ALWAYS throws me off. I took down my bets...Hopped the 7's for $5 each...the next throw was a "SEVEN". One of the craps players accused me of "Sevening out intentionally" and tried to confront me because the exact same thing occurred several times through the night.

BABE RUTH CALL?

My favorite moment over the weekend...happened when a player bought in during the middle of my roll...dropping 2 $100 bills and saying $160 Across. After BEGGING him to not to join in..he said "Roll the Dice"...another player came up to my left and put $75 on the field and I said "Ohh, you want to join in the party too by disrespecting the game". I went into a mini-rave about people not having any craps etiquette...I called "OFF" on my bets and told the entire table to call "OFF" because I "knew" I was going to Seven out immediately. Only a couple of people listened....I will go to my grave saying....."If I call OFF my bets, CALL OFF". I hopped the 7's for $5 each and made a $5 Horn and said loudly...."People who just bought in during my roll....even though I begged you not to"... "MARINATE ON THIS SEVEN".

I SWEAR on everything I have in this world including my wife and mother....the next roll was a SEVEN! Greatest called shot (Babe Ruth?) in my craps career!!!

A few seconds later, this short stocky man who was on the table playing... came up on me and screamed at me "Mother*ucker, this is the 3rd time in a row you have called "off" your bets and sevened out", "Why don't you just play the don't pass line, you *astard?" I screamed back..."I told everyone to call their bets off....you should have listened."

This was the funniest moment ever for me on a craps table! Even though I lost a lot of money overall...I will cherish that moment forever!

The Connecticut class I went to many moons ago, a few of us hit the casino during lunch, and a little old lady (probably the same one! ) must have tossed 12 6's in a 15-roll hand. After she tossed the 3rd or 4th in a row, I got on the 6 for the min ($6). Pressed a couple, then reduced. Then pressed some more. When the 7 showed I was up almost $200, and it was time to head back to the class.
