SLOTS

Believe it or not, craps is not the only game in the casino. Savvy players have a back-up plan for when their craps game is off. If Heavy isn't winning at Craps you're likely to find him playing Baccarat, Blackjack, or even Roulette. If the table games aren't working out he may even take a cigar break in the high limit slot area for a little hit-and-run action. But just like craps - you have to plan your play and play your plan. If you have a question on slots, video poker, carnival games or any table games other than craps, this is the place to post. Let's hear about the games you play when you're not playing craps! What's your game? What's your strategy? How's that working out for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

When I saw this cartoon it reminded me of some of the slot players.

I took a recently very rare trip to Joliet last weekend and dropped some free play coupons in a few slots. I recovered the value of the coupons and a little bit more but in Joliet the slots are so very tight it makes you want to cry. They use to be a fun sideshow distraction but now are just a drain. The fun is leaving. The craps sucked. Chop and ineffective shooting made me long for the golf course. Playing tomorrow and Saturday. No 7 outs there.

Americraps and I went there Monday night. I did the slot thing only because I had a coupon for $5. I ended up making $6 and stopped . Then spent the rest of Monday night at the only table that was open. It was at $10 and totally packed (On a freaking Monday night?)while the other table stayed closed. I was packed in at SL1 so when I went to toss the dice I got yelled at for crossing my arm in front of the stick jerk. I stopped and told them that I'm crammed in here and I can't toss them without crossing that line. Finally someone left from straight out and I went over there. I don't want to play there again. It's a completely different casino since they changed over from Empress to Hollywood. It totally sucks there and has nasty dealers. I broke even for the night.

Nasty dealers - a Hollywood signature. Used to be that way in Shreveport/Bossier as well. Never was I happier to see a casino go bankrupt.

Interesting.. I noticed that at the Bay St Louis, MS Hollywood when I was there in March, and I've always felt that way about my "home" casino in WV.

I never linked them together before, but now it seems curious...

My mother-in-law won $44,000 on a penny progressive slot in DT Vegas at the Plaza, when it used to be the Plaza Union a few years ago. It never improved her attitude towards me though...

Yo...............

I was playing BJ at our local Indian joint a few Xmas's ago and the row of 3 quarter max....Wheel of Fortune machine's went off.

At 3:00AM there was only a skinny-kid playing the bank of machines.

The Casino put a wide yellow tape over the machine.

Nobody was talking to the player...so..... I drifted over and congrad'ed him on his win. He said he put his entire paycheck

into the machine ( $850.00 ) before it hit ..... Wow !

The pay-off was over the years because he hit it for + $340,000.00 !

From time to time we get sidetracked and talk about our slot experiences. Here's an older thread $5 Bill started some time ago on the subject. I suggest you start at the top and read the entire series.

Feb 5th 2016

I thought I would put one of my post over here in this thread. It's all about how I won a $1,000 in free play and how I played it in the slot machines.

Hi guys, I'm at the boat and I just won the drawing. I won $1,000 in free slot play. Then I have to come back at 8 o'clock tonight for a chance to win a brand new car. At the 8 o'clock drawing there will be 21 entries. So my chances of winning are 1 in 21. Prayers are needed for this win. I need a new car. I'll let you know what happened later on.

Well 8 o'clock rolled around and I was tired. I had been playing the slots with my free play. My strategy was to play the $1 three wheel slots and go 25 pulls. If I was only making a couple of dollars then I would find a different machine. The biggest win I had on 25 pulls was $100. So I went another 25 pulls but didn't get nothing. So far I have won $361. I still have about $600 - $700 free slot play left.

Anyway the drawing for the 2016 Ford Fusion was about to start. My name along with 20 other people were in the small clear plastic drum. I noticed that 3 of the people had bent the entry card on the corners. Of course the security guard picked all three of those. I knew they weren't mind. I didn't get picked. They picked 5 entries all together for the final drawing. They had another small plastic barrel with small blue plastic tubes that had a piece of paper inside. 4 of them said that you won $100 in free slot play and the 5th blue tube said 2016 Ford Fusion. The final 5 people were up on the stage when they opened the blue tubes. One of the guys won the car. In fact he was last to pick out of the barrel. There was only one tube left. When he opened it he didn't even get excited. I probably would have broken down with tears of happiness.

I came sooo close to winning a new car. But I still won a $1,000 in free slot play which I am trying to convert into a $1,000 in cash. Oh, and I did play at the craps table before the drawing even started. I was playing the Don't on a half empty $5 table. Then just before the 4 o'clock drawing they raised it to a $10 table. That's when I picked up my $40 win and left to go to the drawing.

Up for the day in Craps and slot play +$401 in cash. Not counting all the free slot play I have left.

FREE SLOT PLAY UPDATE

Sunday Oct 11, 2015 6:30pm

I gotta update you on what happened today with the rest of the free play I had left.

I went to the casino early this afternoon. It felt so cool knowing that I wouldn't have to put any of my own money at risk today. It was all the rest of the free slot play that I was going to use. The only time I play the slots is when I get the free slot play stuff from the casino. I had between $600 - $700 free play left over from yesterday. My goal was to convert my $1,000 free slot play credit into $1,000 in cash. So just like I did yesterday, I looked for the $1 three wheel slot machines. I would spin the slot 25 times. If I was only winning a couple of bucks, I would find another machine to play on. But if I thought it was a hot machine, I would run another 25 spins though it. I found later that once I had a good win after the first 25 spins that, that was it. I never made anything after the first 25 spins.

The biggest win I had on $1 was on some machine that I can't even remember the name of. I spun it and 3 purple 7's came up. One of the 7's had a Triple sign on it. That paid me $240.

I was having a ball winning all this money.
Yesterday I made $361 on the slots
Today I made $663 on the slots

I had converted all of my $1,000 free slot play into $1024 in cash. That was my goal from the start. I didn't win the 2016 Ford Fusion as much as I Really Needed it but at least I made some money.

Up for the month +$1,087

Considering how bad I've heard the slot machines are on cruise ships, every cruise FB group I visit has hundreds of customer posted photos of slot hits they scored on-board . . . many of them ridiculously high . . . all of them tax free payoffs since the cruise ships don't collect taxes. Damndest thing I've seen in awhile. Then I read a trip report this afternoon on one of those sites - complaining about an NCL cruise where the couple had dropped $12K in the slots and hot hit a single hand-pay. Well yeah, there's that . . . who runs the casinos on NCL's cruises? Oh. Never mind. Forget I asked. LOL.

Heavy,

I have a framed picture of the 3.7k slot win in Bossier City from a few months back...
I still cannot get over the way you 'bird dogged' that machine for me.
Enjoyed the fine whiskey that followed.

Heavy,

You know slot wins are taxable even if they are paid without any withheld taxes taken out of the payment.

It's a little late to bring this up but keep in mind the standard deduction has doubled this year. if you're not close to meeting the standard deduction and have W2-G's you're probably going to be stuck paying the taxes on them.

The 2018 standard deduction is $12,000 for single, $18,000 for Head of Household and $24,000 for Married, joint filings.

If your casino has Electronic table games and you don't care for slots see if you can use your free play or coupons in those. Some venues will also convert your free play into chips if you go to the cage or wherever you have to redeem them and grovel.

I have a question do you consider electronic craps slots or table games? They broght back electronic craps at rythem again. Last time it was 6 seats and big giant bubble. Now it two indvigal craps, one black jack and one roulette. One crap you can bet 1-1000. I was think 150 on the 5 and 9,60 on 6&8. Two hits and down and use that money for my daily gambling. Arnt the odds the same as a randon game?

As far as how the results are generated it's almost identical to a table game. There's two random number generators in an electronic table game. One is the digital RNG that controls how much the vibrating table moves during a roll. The other RNG is the dice themselves. And they are almost the same as a table. Main difference is the next roll always starts off with the same faces on top as the previous roll. At a table that is usually not the case.

I played that machine the Saturday before New years. I like it because there isn't a timer. You can play at your own pace. Put in $300 cashed out $620. Went back to show the wife how it works and won another $40.

Unfortunately it was one of those days where only one of us was winning. She lost $200 on Black Jack. :x

Jeff40 or Riggs or anyone: Have you been to Jumners lately? I'm interested if the playability of the craps tables has changed any. Haven't been there for at least 6 months.
