6-5 Blackjack in Maryland

Believe it or not, craps is not the only game in the casino. Savvy players have a back-up plan for when their craps game is off. If Heavy isn't winning at Craps you're likely to find him playing Baccarat, Blackjack, or even Roulette. If the table games aren't working out he may even take a cigar break in the high limit slot area for a little hit-and-run action. But just like craps - you have to plan your play and play your plan. If you have a question on slots, video poker, carnival games or any table games other than craps, this is the place to post. Let's hear about the games you play when you're not playing craps! What's your game? What's your strategy? How's that working out for you? Inquiring minds want to know!

6-5 Blackjack in Maryland

Post by heavy » Sat Feb 25, 2017 2:02 pm

It seems that $25 - $100 table minimums aren't enough to free up any seats at the blackjack tables in Maryland, so the casinos gained approval from the gaming commission there to make a small rule change to add even more profit to their bottom lines. Say goodbye to 3-2 blackjack and hello to 6-5. What's the big deal on that? Well, let's imagine you're playing at that $100 table. You get a blackjack in a 3-2 game you're paid $150. In the 6-5 game you're paid $120. What does that $30 ad up to for a two hour session? On a table with 5 players you'll average 70 hands per hour. On average you'll get dealt a blackjack once every 21 hands. That's 3.33 times an hour you'll "blackjack" with a 21. Make it 6.66 blackjacks in a two hour session. $30 X 6.66 = $199.80. That's essentially a $200 draw down. It's like sitting down at the table, buying in for $2000 and then tossing $200 on the floor. It's real money. That's why the casinos LOVE 6-5 blackjack. And that's why you should NEVER sit down at a 6-5 game. Read all about Maryland's 6-5 casinos here: http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs ... tory.html?

In the television series "Better off Ted", their company had a motto engraved on the lobby floor.
Translated from the latin it meant "Money before People".

This kinda fits the bill with 6/5 blackjack.

You definitely have to pay attention any more. Was in the Palms Las Vegas over the weekend and ALL the Blackjack games I saw in the main pit were 6/5. I didn't check every table.

Maryland regulators say they want to help casinos succeed while ensuring the games are fair to players.
NOT!! What is fair about a 6-5 blackjack payout??
Horseshoe also has incorporated 6-5 payout tables on its casino floor. "This has enabled the casino to offer games with a wider range of minimum bets, thus appealing to a broader range of guests," Horseshoe officials said in a statement.
Yes we need more suckers at the tables!

I don't EVER play Blackjack so this won't affect me but if they mess with the craps payouts, I will certainly boycott their tables. I am sure they won't give a sh*& about my measly bankroll, but it is the principle of the game. Maybe I will go by the 6-5 tables and tell everyone they are being cheated.
