Place Betting the Six and EIGHT

Setting and influencing the dice roll is just part of the picture. To beat the dice you have to know how to bet the dice. Whether you call it a "system," a "strategy," or just a way to play - this is the place to discuss it.

I always press $42-$60-$90. The next one is my aggressive one, I go to $150. If it hits, drop a red chip go to $180-$300-$420-$600-$1200-$1800-$3000

My .02 cents. Practice the bets on your rig. Practice a set, possibly V-2 or V-3 that could be beneficial, and make a decision to press in pairs or the horse that is winning. Gotta have a game plan. I believe this could work with a DI tossing, otherwise, ya never know.

What SIA just said is spot on, and as usual, his and my thinking are in alignment. Probably something to do with it being the last quarter of the moon and the fact that Mars is in Sagittarius. We are persevering, single-minded, and strong. Or it could be we're just due to get together and eat another BBQ lunch before Christmas.

Anyway, I was running around doing Christmas chores for the bride today, by my self in the car, which means I was the smartest person IN the car, when I got to thinking about doing a new betting strategy book. The problem with that is - the first 1/3 of the book would have nothing to do with betting strategies. It would have everything to do with things like having a pre-determined way to play in mind when you enter the casino - then finding a table that's running in a way that is complimentary to your pre-determined play - then playing your plan. Or, as I've said about a ba-zillion times around here - Plan your Play and Play your Plan. The PROBLEM with doing a betting strategy book like that is that all of the guys who get it already "know" all of the basics, so they skip the most important parts of the book to get right down to the betting strategies. I'm really not sure how to approach that. I've considered taking all of the basic stuff you'd put in the beginning of a book and making it an appendix - with an opening chapter advising everyone they need to read the appendix before getting into the betting strategies. Then just give them the betting strategies and leave it up to them to do the right thing. Ah well. I'll make my mind up on this book in a few days. I have more irons than I have fire at the moment.

Heavy,
It's the old "you can lead a horse to water" thing. You can only present it as you think is best but you can't make anyone read it in any certain way. Personally, I would enjoy a betting strategy book. Hope you find time to do it.

Well the problem with doing a betting strategy book unfortunately is, it's not one size fits all. It really comes down to comfort zone. I'd say the major thing is regarding a betting strategy is, what are you looking for? Yeah, yeah, I know we want to make a profit, but the question is how much profit? If we want to maximize the potential profit, we need to take more risk. If we want to just make a profit with minimal risk, well that's probably going to involve hedging your bets. Now your probably not going to make a lot when you win, but odds are your probably going to lose less and break even more often. There is actually nothing wrong with that. If we gave you a betting system that allowed you let's say a $50 win after 2 hours at the table, would you use it? If you came often, you'll end up with a nice bankroll. I have a friend who used to trade stocks he's made millions. Anyways, he told me he built it up by having realistic goals, like he said try to make just like $2000 for the whole week, if you reach it early or make more that's great, you either can take the rest of the week off or you made bonus money. If you did that, you'd have $104,000 for the year.

Anyways, I think most people are looking for a bigger profit, but there's the rub, again you want a bigger profit, well going to need to risk more.

Also, it's often the mental thing too. For instance, why don't more players play the DON'T? Because it doesn't feel right to them, at it's core, the fundamental principal in playing the don't is, that we are betting more to win less. Say that to yourself a few times, BET MORE TO WIN LESS! I just talked about risk and about how we need to risk more to win more and it flies in the face of that. The thing is, there are more ways to roll a 7 than any other number, so there's a better chance you'd win, but it doesn't seem like the risk/reward is right. All the other rightside bets for the most part pay us more than what we are risking.

Looping back to Heavy's Plan your Play and Play your Plan. The problem is, guys don't make a complete plan, so when things don't go as planned, their wondering what to do, that's when we see ideas like rebuying or betting bigger to make our money back.

I agree with pappyvanwinkle in that it all boils down to comfort zone.

Betting the 6 & 8 works until they go on vacation and don't show up. Years ago I thought the isr was the golden goose on the 6 & 8 but have discovered that it was not so.

Comfort has much more to do with the mental part of the game. The nervous system of the individual reacts the same way with the same stimulus. Do your fingers get cold and clammy when things aren't going well?

Your body has stopped the circulation of blood there so your perfect toss that you use at home is nowhere to be found since you really do have completely new fingers gripping the dice that feel cold. I know when this happens to change my grip to the being stressed grip. Has any tried to hijack their autonomous nervous system so you can override the fight or flight responses?
