First Dark side play short Trip Report

Post by rhythm roller » Sun Jan 28, 2018 2:44 pm

Just a quick trip report and a question. I am in LV and played my first dark side session last night.

$10 table that was choppy

$100 buy in (Yes, underfunded)

Extremely busy Saturday night at Harrahs and all very full tables. I will not play right side with those conditions.

Decided to get my feet wet with darkside betting. Looked at my $100 as entertainment and willing to lose it all before walking.

Spot open right by the Don't Come box so perfect. Only played Don't Come and no odds. After point established I played a $15 DC and then a $10 DC. At least for this session that worked very well. $10 DC sometimes would get picked off but rarely the $15. Transitioned once on a DI and made some money on him on the right side but even though he made 4 repeater bets my $15 DC on the 10 got paid on his seven out.

Left the table after about 2 hours with $155 after tips.

How do you dark siders tip? I played a couple of HW's for the dealers on the good shooter that they won and also a couple of dollars when I left the table. I definitely tip more when I play right side. Any suggestions are welcome on tipping or playing dark. Thanks!

Nice little win, RR. Good call playing darkside on the busy tables.

I recently played a darkside session at Bally's. Same thing, bought in for $100, colored up for $165. Played strictly DC. Two consecutive naked $10 flat bets once the point was established. I tipped at the end of the session, I didn't tip during the games. I suppose you could always add (piggyback) a $1 chip on the DC bets and toke that way.

I tip by making hardways wagers for the dealers during a session and /or a hand in when leaving the table.

Way to go , making money on the Darkside.

Nice call on getting your feet wet with some darkside play in some good conditions for it.

BD/DF: Wow. Something I had never thought about:
IF you make a piggyback wager for the dealer on the dark ($1), say 10 is the point: What are they paid? Since the dark pays less than the do, how is that worked out for the dealers. I have just always given them a hand-in.

I've seen guys piggyback on the flat and on the odds (bigger players). Don't think I've ever seen a dark sider tip with a hardway bet. More likely something like "six one hop for the boys." Yeah, that's an asshole that does that. But at the end of the day I rarely see Don't players tip at all.

SIA, Bankerdude was just saying put a dollar on the $10 flat Don't Bet and the dealers get the white chips on a winning bet.

Heavy, when I have no action on the table, I will make a hardways bet for the dealers. Then a hand in when I leave the table.

I have noticed that since the economy tanked in 2008, that it does seem like the dealers are getting fewer tips. I may be wrong. I am not a big tipper at all, but I tip every session whether I win or lose.

DF: That was the point: ON a seven out, dealer wins how much on a dollar piggy back? IF a dollar, he is overpaid by 50%. I suspect he wins nothing, just gets to put it in the toke box.
Heavy: You are correct. Most dark side players seldom tip. I generally give away my whites unless one of the dealers irritated me with snide comments.
A long time ago, I did place a couple of dark side bets for the dealers and they got jikky and nervous and was really glad when the hand was over. I think they thought those bets would piss off the right side players and cut into their tips. Didn't much matter as very few tip anyways.
I have not done that again.
Ah shit. Old age. I was thinking on odds, not flat. Dummy me.

When tipping , I just try to toss in a tip which does not slow down or interrupt the game . I have seen players lose it when they make a bet for the dealers and say the "I" control the bet .

The dealer says , "The casino doesn`t allow that."

A five minute argument begins over a solitary white chip.

I would say a larger percentage of rightside players do not tip as opposed to Darkside players.

I like the idea of skipping the Don't Pass and starting off with the Don't Come. You only can get picked off by the 7 once.

Yes, the DC play like this that RR did would be my way to go too. You are a bit more off the radar given a lot of people don't even know what a DC is or how it works, and as you say, the CO7/11 problematic string is avoided......though of course a couple of bloody yos will still get you from time to time.

Nice work RR :)

It was actually very relaxing play. As LS said, I don't think anyone at the table except the dealer knew I was betting dark and other players were very friendly towards me. I have occassionally bet on a DP before on a cold table and it was definitely a different vibe.

Following the Seven Out ,Your Dark Side wagers win
and
the Do (bright) Side bets need be removed.
.
Keep an eye on your Back Line Don't Come wager(s)
At times ,especially if you have only one D/C up
a dealer may sweep the Dark Side wager away with the Do Side bets
in an effort to clean the layout up prior to the next shooter.

It occurs on occasion , not often and easily enough corrected.
.
HOWEVER FACTOR
.
If your Do Not Wager(s) get plucked up ,call it to the dealer's attention PRONTO
Be nice but if necessary get the attention of the BOX PERSON
before the dice travel to the next shooter.

just me saying

p s : There have been occasions when I transitioned from
DO SIDE to DARK SIDE and back to DO Side
with a hand extending leaving my Don't Come Wager on a

" sound asleep comatose box number"

that I dis-remembered until the dealer shoved
the payout over
after the hand terminated.

just me saying

There's a couple of way I tip when darksiding

First way is always the hand in when you color up. Though I would rather toke during the session, as I want their attention. Dealers look away from darksiders, just as players do; but toke them as you want them on your side.

Hence my way I like to do is mixing up the DP bet, sometimes it's $10 with a $1 piggyback; but that dollar has a funny habit of flying all over and it really confuses them when you lay odds by it. Many times when I'm playing the OHCM with a $12 or $18 DP; on a win on the 7 out after am I'm paid, I just toss one of the whites to the dealer and tell 'em to "lock it up". This seems to work well for all, though once in awhile the dealer tells me to "let it ride". Which is cool as we both know cold when we see it......

Well done on joining the land of darksiders, D.N8r

Thanks everyone for comments and how to tip info. Yes, I am thinking just more hand in chips is the way to add more tip money. Luckily, I had very good dealers at Harrahs and they did not miss one of my payments but I was paying attention to my bets. One of the reasons (besides my small buy in) I wasn't using odds was so I could better keep track of my bets and pay outs. Baby steps! :)

I sometimes will play the field when going dark and will make a field bet for the dealers. Other times I will toss out $10 and tell the stick, "Turn the red for 9 and give yourself a dollar dealer red. Quiet and never say the word "seven".
