Complaining players on my recent trip

Post by Dylanfreake » Sat Jun 10, 2017 6:52 am

Off to Tunica we go for a one night stay where I encountered a lot of complaining craps players. After checking into the room , my better half went to play in a weekly slot tournament while I went in search of a spot at crowded craps tables . I ended up on a $5 table and began wagering with a $5 DP laying $66 on any number. The reason for the increase in odds is the result of a super good May plus a bankroll play adjustment.

The player to my left was betting on the ALLTALL/Small wager $2-$4-$2 every shooter . He did that for 45 minutes until a guy at the other end of the table had bought in and the dice sent to him . The guy next to the player that was getting the dice was pissed because he thought that the dice should come to him . The new player told him to take the dice and the player raising cane told him to go ahead and shoot . Then a "you shoot, no, you shoot " dance game began , but finally ended with the new player shooting the dice . Where there had been six or seven players betting the Bonus bet there were now only one since everyone else decided there were bad vibes on the table. The guy to my left did not bet his 2-4-2.

Of course the shooter tossed a comeout seven which killed my $5 DP along with the lone Bonus Bet. The Bonus bet went back up but not my $5 DP . I am done on that shooter. Then , the shooter goes on a long roll making the full ALLTall/Small wager and all I hear coming from my left and from the other end of the table are "Muther F---ers and G--D----s!!!

The shooter and the Bonus Bet winner color up and the other 5 or 6 who did not wager on the shooter all leave the table mumbling curse words. I am left there alone so I color up with a $169 loss , but I leave the table just as happy as I was when I bought in at the table. I am still alive and what good does cussing do.

As I walked away from the table , I thought about a night years ago on a drive home from the casino on HWY 61 when I got an attitude adjustment from my better half which changed my attitude towards gambling and began a journey that I would never have imagined.

More to come.

After dinner at the Atrium --ribeye and pork tenderloin---, I went to the lounge and ordered a dry, Bombay gin martini with olives up. After drinking it , I staggered to the room and was out by 8 PM.

Up early , I walked around the three casinos for about 30 minutes and took a shower and got a breakfast bacon, egg and cheese bagel and then hit the craps table buying in on a $5 table next to another complaining craps player that this time happened to be a Darksider----well I later found out , somewhat of a Darksider. I always thought the biggest complainers at the craps table were rightside players, but this guy was right up there with the rightsiders.

I began betting my standard DP laying $66 in odds. The player next to me wagered $75 on the DP. A come out natural would result in my losing $5 . The player next to me would cuss and replace his lost $75 with a $250 wager . Should he lose the $150 wager , he would cuss and replace that wager with a $250 wager and then place $500 across. On any hit he would take down the number that hit.

Most of the time he would get either one or no hits and 7-out at which time he would cuss like crazy and blame the casino for taking his money. R Finally he colored up and left the table mumbling about how this particular casino was the only one in Tunica that always took his money. Thinking to myself, I wondered , if that were true then why would he even think about playing there.

As he was leaving the table , I thought about informing him about the full moon , but I thought I had better not add fuel to the flames because he was "all shook up" as Elvis would have said.

Then the guy at the end of the table a rightside player started talking about how the dice were not rolling like they normally roll as he slung them to the backwall getting reprimanded by the box for hitting the glass on the side. He continued bitching about dice hitting chips . I thought well maybe if you were a sharpshooter and had a little control of the dice then you could lightly shoot the dice and miss all the chips on the other end of the table. Before I could say that his cellphone rang and scared him , just as he flung the dice causing him to cuss more but did not prevent him from answering his phone and saying he would call them back .Then as the stick waited for more center bets that were being made the shooter was mouthing about the stick holding the dice so long. Finally he sevened out and had a decent roll but had not made any money because of all the hardways, ace-deuce , yo and horn bets he made on every roll that did not hit. He left the table in a huff.

I played for a while longer and thought how I could have ended up being a complaining craps player had my young wife not set me straight about 13 or 14 years ago one night driving home from the casinos on HWY 61.

After a couple of hours of play , I left the table up $333 and am happy that I am not a complaining , superstitious craps player and I feel very fortunate that I can continue playing craps in casinos

It was probably in 2003 or 2004. At the time I was a confused craps player . My gambling bankroll was less than a thousand dollars . When I started going to casinos at the insistence of Gail in Aug 2000 with $100 , I had little desire to gamble. I told her that when that $100 was gone for her to never ask me to go to a casino again. I got lucky and won a few dollars always leaving, at that time BJ tables, while ahead.

One day I played craps for the first time and found that I enjoyed the game although I was only making a flat table minimum Don't Pass bet. I was amazed at the Pass Line players winning mounds of chips , but I remained a low rolling DP player.

I then tried shooting dice but never felt comfortable making rightside wagers and as a result was a terrible craps shooter . Falling into becoming a superstitious craps player , one night in Tunica, I loss $20. On the way home , I was bitching to Gail about cocktail waitress bothering me as I shot , the stick looking at me wrong , the dice bouncing off the table because of the table, the pit watching me, Bob Dylan music never being played..... In other words , I blamed that $20 loss not on my poor shooting but on any little thing other than me . Plus , I hated making Right Side bets when I shot the dice.

While cussing and acting like an idiot on the way home , Gail said if I did not get an attitude adjustment she would never bring me to Tunica with her again. She said ," Play the way YOU want to play and forget about shooting the dice if you are blaming everything other than yourself for your $20 losses".

So that night going home down HWY 61, I decided to quit trying to shoot dice and only play the Darkside. No more dabbling with shooting and betting the Right Side. Since then I have been a happy craps player.

Now $169 losses do not bother me and I do not get excited with $333 wins.

Way to maintain a positive attitude DF. Excuses are just that, excuses. They serve no purpose other than to assuage one's ego.
Whiner's and complainers should not be playing games with negative expectations.

I was betting the don't when not shooting and then would switch to betting the pass line when shooting. I was always second guessing myself so in order to not second guess my play, I just quit shooting and that night on HWY 61 vowed to never make another right side wager. It has been smooth sailing ever since.

After I began playing craps and enjoying it, I thought if I could turn my original hundred dollars into $3,000 by the time I retired , I would have enough of a gambling bankroll to carry me for the rest of my life. I retired a couple of years ago at 69 with almost four times that.

I accumulated that through patience and discipline.I still enjoy the game although I am not an action junkie since I only lose one bet per shooter.

I have started using 5% of my total gambling bankroll as a loss limit.I divide that 5% loss limit by 12 to get my average wager per shooter.

I usually play the right side. Only bet the pass when shooting. Will go dark once in a while after three consecutive very short rolls shooters. I however keep a low profile when going dark. And I don't complain no matter what happens. But that's just me.

On the other hand, I enjoy watching the complainers. They point fingers left and right. I find them very entertaining specially when they get loud and animated. Best is when they blame me for causing the SO after I tell the dealer to turn my bets off. I tell them am psychic and they should follow my lead. I then go on to tell them I hear a voice in my head to turn my bets off and wait for three rolls then go back on again. Of course most of the time the seven comes out within that time frame. All of a sudden I have believers. Lol!

It's fun to watch and make fun of the superstitious when I am one myself. Lol! Stick change, turn my bets off for one roll. Seven shows when stick is moving the dice around, "Turn me off please!"

Craps is a random game in general. Bet accordingly. YMMV.

LOL. Was in SFO driving by Haight last week in SFO and thought of you. Glad fog cleared. Hehehe.

I am loving Sparks NV. Ain't playing in Joliet anymore.

Let me know if you guys ever choose Reno. I might be there.

Hehehe, ohh, the days before I gambled --Gail would fly to Las Vegas for a week of gambling on her vacation and I would fly to San Francisco for a week of walking the streets. One morning I was up early and walked from Haight and Divisidero down to Lombard Street and over to Columbus and up Columbus to City Lights and Vesuvios ,where I had an Anchor Steam, and then walked back to Divisidero and Haight by way of Union. That was a great walk.

Since we have played almost exclusively at MGM props , G doesn`t get flights to Reno any longer . She does play enough just to keep Diamond status at CET props. Age is slowing us down.

Yeah age is slowing us down DF but we are still on the right side of the grass. Made me sad walking downtown seeing so many homeless, some dumpster diving right in front of everyone walking by. Went to the Presidio for the first time last week. Wow was that beautiful. Ate lunch on the wharf and had a nice crabcake sandwich. Everyone ordered Anchor Steam. Say hey to Gail.

I would usually walk to the Marina and down Crissy field and on to Fort Point ; from there I would walk up to the Golden Gate Bridge and walkover to Sausalito (Are there any Italians in Sausilito?) Then on the way back take what they call subways which are scary tunnels and walkways which I am sure are hideouts for homeless and drug heads (I saw many little makeshift shelters in the woods there) under the bridge and on to the area surrounding the Presidio. From the Presidio I would go to the Baker Street stairs and walk up until I got back to the Western Addition. Gail said hello.

I would start these walks around 6 or 7 in the morning and get back around 7 at night. So I was not in any hurry and I think that is the best way to see and get a feel for San Francisco. My worse trip to San Francisco was once when Gail went with me and we had to rent a car because she did not and would not walk all over town. Cars and San Francisco are not good for a symbiotic relationship.
