Re: How do YOU handle the Five and Nine?

My feeling? I want the lowest vig bets on the table that are not contract bets (the six and eight place bets - and probably a DP bet to go with them) with a sensible pay for it first press approach - with additional numbers placed based on them earning the right to be placed. They earn the right to...

Re: How do YOU handle the Five and Nine?

I understand the concept that more money is “lost” on the PL bet than any other bet on the layout, but that is only/mainly because its the most frequenty booked bet on the layout. PL is also *normally* the lowest HE bet on the layout besides the fre odds bet. The law of large numbers dictates that o...

Re: My Current Charting and Press Moves . . .

Heavy: Thanks so much for posting this! I dont have time to read the entire thread right now (just read your initial post), but I intend to print this out and keep it on a reference card I can bring to the table when I have time to try out this betting strategy

Re: Where's the Dark Side Love ??

I am a "situational" dark side player. I've heard many times not to switch right betting and dark side play in a single session. People say "pick a side, and stick with it..at least for the duration of a table session". It wasn't a particularly choppy table I was playing at this ...

Re: Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

DanF: I was only commenting on a game of craps with unbiased, truly random dice without controlled shooters/dice influeners. In a truly random game of craps, such as an electronic version with a truly unbiased random number generator, no betting system will net a positive result in the long run, ove...

Re: Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

Guys, I am not a mathematics wizard by any means. But there is no "fool proof" system, nor even a system that consistently wins money "most of the time" given a large enough sample size . You can go through life using any wagering system and have a bunch of "perceived succes...

Re: Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

Not being facetious here, Irish...But how exactly does one gain an edge at Craps? Are you referring to the illusive (but plausible) discipline of dice control/dice influence? Or are you referring to stealing chips from the bank when no one is looking? Albert Einstein supposedly once said "No on...

Re: Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

One more thought/question: I personally am always fascinated/enthralled by the concept of "grinding for comps". I know conventional wisdom is "don't gamble to run up comps, you'll spend a lot more money than you would if you paid for your buffet or hotel room out-of-pocket". But ...

Re: Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

Irish: I am glad you found my post to be valuable and on-point. It's validating to have a long-term forum-member compliment my writing. If this thread in fact captures the essence of "optimal bet size, frequency, and strategy" for any high-variance, negative expectation game of chance, the...

Law of Large Numbers, Variance, bet size/frequency

All, I am looking for overall science/math-based advice on bet size and frequency. I did some research on the "Law of Large Numbers". I think that the Law of Large Numbers is the Casino'owner's best friend because every game in the casino is a negative expectation game, or at best, a zero ...

Re: betting strategy to maximize table time and preserve bankroll?

If a few rolls are occurring, then the DC will travel and have a better shot at coming back. It'll also be a bit of personal preference. Do you want to be seen as playing "with the house?" Not a concern for me. The other thing is a single DC is a gateway to playing dark side more frequent...

Re: betting strategy to maximize table time and preserve bankroll?

If I go the 6/8 route, minimum bet but working on the come out. One hit and down. If you want more comps, minimum bet on the inside numbers working on the come out. One hit and down. But once in a while you get snagged by the seven on the come out. Then that eats into your bankroll. Irukanji: When ...

Re: betting strategy to maximize table time and preserve bankroll?

A flat DC per shooter will give you hours upon hours of table time. Is a flat DC really significantly better than a flat come? I know that mathematically, its slightly better EV, but in terms of the "slow burn" where you stay at the table for hours with very little change to your bankroll...

betting strategy to maximize table time and preserve bankroll?

Hi All, I realize the best goal to have when you walk into a casino is to walk out with more money than you started with. I realize that fundamentals of bankroll management include setting win and loss limits, and sticking to your plan, esp.sticking to the "loss limit" portion of your plan...

Re: Yup, Friends & Money...

That reminds me of a story me brother told me. He was in LV downtown, this guy was maxing out on a dollar machine and need a RR break so he ask his wife to watch the machine and DO NOT PLAY IT. So, of course she pushed a button and hit the jackpot. He came back, saw what happened and commenced to b...

Re: Downtown vs Strip odds for proposition bets?

Heavy and Maddog: thank you both for tanking the time to reply and answer. I am definitely am un-enthusiastic about prop bets...but I occasionally throw a dollar on a prop bet...so I want to know which Las Vegas casinos offer the best odds (best of the worst?). Once in a while, on a come out roll, w...

Downtown vs Strip odds for proposition bets?

Hey All! I'll be going to Las Vegas very soon...this will be only my second trip out to LV...so I have a few questions: 1. I recently read the old "table condition list" posted at http://www.nextshooter.com/vegas . I realize the article must be a bit out-of-date. But it references "Do...

Re: Negative Progressions

How about this. If you are running your negative progression on the Free Odds bet ONLY are you really running a negative progression? Hmmm. That's almost worth its own topic. What you are referring to here is a situation where you are increasing your bet size on the Free Odds only in the event of o...
