Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

It has been said that: - An atheist is very much certain (or close to certain) that God does not exist. Some atheist who are truly open-minded will say "I can't discount that it is highly improbable, but still technically possible that God exists anymore than I can discount the technical possib...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

ive seen all kind of conventional wisdom, some of it quite sound/good on this and other discussion boards. Things like: -dont gamble when you are tired, take breaks -dont chase loses -dont hedge (Wizard of Vegas says “dont hedge except when life-changing amounts of money are at stake” -set session b...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

TMAINFRAME: The one exception to my pronouncement would be true dice influence. That is, if someone is truly skewing the dice toss results away from purely mathematically random, then past winning sessions can be a slight predictor of future session results, assuming future play conditions and bett...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

Winning streaks are real. They can possibly benefit a gambler if they are smart enough to realize it's a winning streak and shut down the over betting at the first sniff of the streak ending. Archie Karas is an example of someone who overplayed a winning streak to his determent. The only way to exp...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

I agree “chasing boxcars at $5 a roll for 30 rolls” is not a particularly good betting strategy. i was just pointing out that if the dice happen to cooperate it can be a winning strategy however unlikely. sound like your suggesting and/or implementing some kind of regeession follwed by conditional p...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

And it is said you never know when you are in one. If you use regression and are in the money quickly after the first couple of throws, you are definitely ready to catch one both money wise and psychologically. After all, if you are even or ahead when even a short roll is going on, you don't lose a...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?

Now the interesting thing about a streak or “Set of high variance outcomes on independent random events” is Figuring out how to recognize a streak and profit from it when it occurs. The problem is each toss of the dice is independent and has nothing to do with past results. I streak is only obvious ...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

I posted something late last night that wasn't' even *that* politically charged, but decided to retract my post because this is primarily a forum about craps, betting strategies, dice influencing, casino conditions, and gambling. I'd rather not get to far into the weeds of religion, politics, or eve...

Re: Is there really such a thing as a "lucky streak?"

I would simply say that in a random game, over the long run you're better off locking up a win early. Keep some action on the table if you wish - but play with your surplus winnings after you've locked up a win. There may be that streak of three or four consecutive sixes that Irish mentioned before...

Re: Is the casino math of craps really that important?

The only problem with this whole hypothetical situation re: the old lady with a seperate gambling account and $3000 in winnings, and a $50 session bankroll that she doesn't "play to extinction" every weekend is this: Maybe this scenario where she "won some" and "lost some&qu...

good morning puaco. In the short RUN it will work/win. but--- in the long RUN--- you will lose. JAIME. Great point Jaime. In the long run (tens of thousands of die tosses) It doesn't matter whether you bet a few place numbers and take the bets down after a couple of hits or leave them up until the ...

Re: Is the casino math of craps really that important?

Again, I go back to the slot play comparison. A little old lady risks $50/wk on slots. Most of the time she loses some if not all, some time she wins some. One day, the slots gods smile on her and she hits a $3000 jackpot. If she does not change the way and the level at which she plays, she may nev...

Re: 100X Odds - Gimmick or Benefit?

Some people do play for comps. I don’t know who or where, but some people just have disposable income that they want to play around with and gamble, enjoy the experience, and maybe get some free rooms and meals in the process. These people I am referring to are the true “recreational gamblers” if a...

Re: 100X Odds - Gimmick or Benefit?

One more thing I wanted to add: technically, zero EV bets are not harmful to the casinos bottom line. If anything, zero EV bets like the free odds and lay odds bets are just a waste of the casinos time. The casino couldn’t offer lots and lots of zero expectation games because they would be breaking ...

Re: 100X Odds - Gimmick or Benefit?

I think someone on this tread alluded to a progressive odds betting strategy (between point numbers that is). So you may start with 10X odds on your first pass+odds wager and then re-invest the winnings to place 20X odds on the next point number established, etc. Personally, I'd do $5 with 10X odds ...
