Re: Sensible Bets

In other words - it's "bet made" versus "bet resolved," although some of us consider a "tie" or "push" a resolution. The bet was decided. Nobody won. Ah, hell. Don't get me started or I'll have to go over to those bets that don't make sense and explain why the...

Re: Sensible Bets

. . . and while I can't argue with you regarding the house edge on the Pass and Come bets . . . I'm from the "I'd rather Place or Buy it" camp. That doesn't mean I don't put things on auto pilot with continuious Come bets with odds from time to time, but I will almost always have a profit ...

Re: Less Sensible Bets

Yeah, an unfortunate aspect of DI is that a lot of guys look at these bets as a "CHALLENGE" to their ability to influence the dice and they build strategies around them - not unlike the old World/Whirl Come Out strategy. The Fire bet is a great example of a terrible bet that I can't imagin...

It was also Wild Child who imported the phrase "WIN WIN WIN - PAY PAY PAY" into my vocabulary. (I'm not sure if I'm giving him the credit or the blame)

Re: Sweet!!

Not a rumor - it's a fact. We talked about it a little on another thread. The Riviera is sort of off by itself since the bulldozers leveled the neighborhood for a project that never got out of first gear. I guess they have to do something to attract business. Perhaps this will help. It would be a gr...

Re: Seven Things To Do While Waiting for the Dice

Man, I hate those TVs in the pit. Takes the dealer's attention away from the game in front of him to the one on the screen.

Seven Things To Do While Waiting for the Dice

Seven Things To Do While Waiting for the Dice By Steve “Heavy” Haltom Over the last few months we’ve talked about the fact that the best bet to make on a random roller is “no bet.” Unfortunately, for most of us standing at the table and not betting is about as exciting as watching milk curdle. What ...

The "Do Nots" Have it

A while back a friend of mine told me about a session where he witnessed fourteen consecutive seven-outs on a table. During that time there were no Come Out naturals. The table was as cold as the Titanic. My friend, being a conservative Don’t player, runs a conservative flat bet and free odds progre...

Re: Best Game in Town - Part Deux

There are a lot of BB language codes that are not set up in the site. Looks like you figured out the bold face, colors, and images plus the tables code (I hate that one). I am a keep it simple kind of guy.

MP - I think you may be referring to the Ah Craps chap.

Re: Best Game in Town - Part Deux

Well, that WAS fun. Now let's mention a thing or two that was missed. Without table limits any of us could run a martingale on this wager and clean house. Unfortunately, negative progressions can and usually do bite you on the ass. Back in my younger days I lost a shit-load of money playing a due-nu...

Re: Best Game in Town - Part Deux

I don't think anyone disagrees with you over the fact that the casino wins 20 times and the player wins 16 ina random distribution. But in that same 36 roll distribution you win 20 units and lose 20 units for a zero sum game. I think the issue here is that you are basing your entire premise on decis...

Re: What about that "see a horn - bet a horn" strategy?

Yeah, you nailed it. 6/5 5/6 permutation of the straight sixes set. I observe the results - single pitch, double pitch, whatever, and adjust from there. And yes, often I'll end up setting 6/1 5/2 and double pitching into aces or twelve. DF - that Vowels was a prop-betting fool. He'd have a couple of...

Re: What about that "see a horn - bet a horn" strategy?

A lot of these sessions have sort of blurred though the years, despite their memorability. You old timers will probably say "here we go again." The essential facts of the sessions are correct, although I may have miffed a little detail due to that old-timer's disease. Here goes. A few year...

Re: What about that "see a horn - bet a horn" strategy?

Yep, there used to be a table like that at the old Sheraton in Tunica many many years ago. I suspect that table got sunk in the Mississippi when the Harrah's folks got rid of it.

What about that "see a horn - bet a horn" strategy?

"See a horn - bet a horn" was around a long time before I ever spoke these words. Contrary to what some prople say, I don't teach this as a strategy. However, I've made so much money at it through the years that often the truth gets blurred. Let's take a look at that series I mentioned a f...

Re: Math math math . . .

The laws of probability often confound gamblers. Things that sound correct "logically" really aren't when looked at from a mathematical perspective. Let's think, for example, about the odds of the seven showing up on the next toss of the dice. There are six combinations of dice faces that ...

Man, I miss "bigkahnman." Last I heard he was struggling with some health issues. I hope he's still out there somewhere running his progressions.
