Re: Explain the merits of the "Don't Come" bet.

Another "merit" is that the bet only needs to win once to be an overall winner. There is a psychology in play with do betting that can easily deceive the player into feeling like a winner even though they are losing. Take this hand: 2 - 8 - 11 - 6 - 9 - 5 - 9 - 7out The do player that goes...

Re: Laying a firebet. Good or bad?

I wonder if she didn't just get momentarily confused and was thinking about max lay odds on a DC or DP rather than a straight lay. I've sure seen it happen where a dealer or boxperson quotes a rule correctly but it's the wrong rule for my bet. Some apologize quickly when they realize their error and...

Re: Laying a firebet. Good or bad?

What I don't understand is WHY you would want to lay $500? If you hit the 5th point you would lose the $500 lay and win $500 for your $2 firebet. A push. I can understand that you might want to lay more than $120 but I would think you'd want to lay something in the middle...like lay $300 to win $200...

Re: Betting the field martingale system

I looked back at the roll stats of our last four trips and the longest non-field string I saw was 9 rolls. You would hit the $3000 table max in eight rolls. There are many strings of 4-6 non-field numbers and one 7 string in my data. I think there are several problems with this strategy. 1) If you a...

I think we need a chart on the percentage of forum members that actually read these charts including the cumulative probability of reading each successive chart in a multi-chart post.

Re: Betting Strategies for a Slow Post Day

The allure of those long rolls is very strong with me. Tracking the rolls has helped me keep in touch with reality. The more I track, the closer my numbers get to statistical averages. A full two thirds of all hands are 8 rolls or less. It really does make sense to try to get to at least a break-eve...

Re: Betting Strategies for a Slow Post Day

FWIW, in the 949 live rolls that I have tracked since last fall the average hand length is 8.01. Longest roll = 49 (by a random roller we'd never seen before) Freak's longest roll = 36 L's longest roll = 37 34% of hands were 4 rolls or less 32% of hands were 5 - 8 rolls 25% of hands were 9 - 16 roll...

Re: The "Freak", A disciplined press/regress betting pattern

I'm very pleased to report this strategy worked great this weekend. Actually, a combination this plus a bit of don't on some RRs, positive on other select RRs and L betting a Hit-and-down strategy. The big profit came off of L's 37 roll hand that I was betting with the "Freak" strategy. I ...

Re: The "Freak", A disciplined press/regress betting pattern

You might want to check the math on the 1st roll 2nd roll part. I say this because a craps number would pay you $7 that first roll but you lost $10, you'd be $3 behind and pressing "out of pocket" so to speak [taking your craps payout to replace the PL plus dropping #4 to get it back to $...

Re: My chickenshipt version of Dave's Don't (and a trip repo

I think this is a good adjustment. We all have to decide our level of comfort and commitment to and with a certain betting pattern/strategy. Thei s a more cautious "Dave" which I can appreciate. I had intended to bet the dave last trip to Cherokee but in practice two days before I got hamm...

The "Freak", A disciplined press/regress betting pattern

After our last trip to the casino I made a few notes about what I hoped to do differently next time. Some of my thoughts were: 1) The CO is sort of like a game all unto it's self yet I often just try to survive it. Rather than just surviving it, how might I take advantage of the CO for profit? 2) I ...

Re: Which strategy would you prefer?

I agree with Heavy. That straight martingale will get you in the hole fast. If you are thinking about a negative progression though you should look into the labby 111. Search for it or PM AlFalcons. It does direct you to increase after a loss but only a small amount. It can be used on 50/50 bets lik...

Re: Leave a winning $10 table for an empty $5 table or not?

That move has saved me a lot. Sometimes I get so frustrated if I can't get my play to work, or if I modify my play and then the dice roll the exact way I needed them to LAST hand but not this hand. If I don't take a break I tend to start chasing out of frustration and anger, feeling like I must get ...

Re: Leave a winning $10 table for an empty $5 table or not?

I don't think I would switch away from a positive table if I had not achieved my win goal. However if you hit your 20% win goal then good discipline would dictate that you put $840 in the back rail (or better yet your pocket) and play with the remaining $110. With only $110 the $5 table is much more...

Do you ever hedge with a come bet?

There was a time when I used to make regular come bets. My "play" on my first ever craps adventure in Vegas was a PL bet, then a come bet. This was a sort of "one count" that provided a break-even on PSOs. Once the come traveled I'd put odds on both numbers and hope for a repeate...

Re: Questions on tipping the dealers?

Piggy backed with player control means you get to say what happens when it wins, i.e. if it will parlay or be paid and taken down. If you just say "Hard eight for me and the dealers" they put your H8 in your spot and the dealers H8 in the center. If it hits it goes straight into the toke b...

Re: See a 4 or 10 , Lay a 4 or 10 and.........

Exactly. Using the 5 count you are absolutely guaranteed never to get spanked by a PSO. 10 PSOs in a row and you have lost nothing. Conversely if there are ten 6-roll hands in a row you're gonna get clobbered. Much of it comes down to how you measure success. $ won/lost per hand or $ won/lost per ho...

Re: See a 4 or 10 , Lay a 4 or 10 and.........

I've never seen that in a book but we used to see a guy at Cherokee playing something similar. He would bet both pass/don't pass then lay $500 odds if it was a 4 or 10 for one roll. If the seven didn't show he'd pick up the odds and wait for an outside number to show. Then he'd lay that number for o...

Re: ??????????Do we see a pattern ??????????

We don't know or see any DIs where we play. Many have a throwing ritual, but I see nothing that looks like "influencing" in the way the dice travel or land. We did see one guy last summer that appeared to be attempting DI. Big guy. He leaned way over the table. His ear was about 6" of...
