Re: how many favor the initial steep regression betting?
We know the chance of a 7 rolling is 1/6. So the chance of 7 not rolling is 5/6. To figure out the chance of a 7 rolling twice in a row, you would multiply 1/6 * 1/6. So to make 2 rolls in a row without a 7 is 5/6 * 5/6. What this formula does is tell you the chance of rolling at least one 7 in X nu...

Re: how many favor the initial steep regression betting?
To determine the probability of an event occurring within n trials, you use the formula pn = 1 - (1 - p) ^ n where pn is the probability in n trials and p is the probability of 1 trial. So if you substitute in 1/2 for pn (50/50 chance of it occurring) and 1/6 for p (chance of a 7 rolling) then solve...

Re: Firebet Hedge
The doey/don't wouldn't help when he's trying to establish a DC and a place bet at the same time. [snip] But what about a craps? Ugh! Better throw a field bet out for $500 to cover a 12, a $20 aces, and $35 ace-deuce. [snip] Uh, DC wins on a Aces, Ace-Deuce and pushes ("Bar"(ed)" mos...

Re: Firebet Hedge
The doey/don't wouldn't help when he's trying to establish a DC and a place bet at the same time. You could have laid 5 for $1500 to protect the DC against the 7, and also thrown out $35 yo. Of course then you'd need to hedge your no-5, so go ahead and also place the 5 for $1000. But what about prot...

And don't forget the Colombian special - 2 lines (3/3)

Re: Crapless craps
You're right, thanks. For some reason I was reading the 3.37 as the number of rolls for a round that is not decided on the come-out, instead of the total number of rolls per round. Not sure how I missed dividing by 15 instead of 12 either since I obviously picked it up on the 2/12 and 3/11 calculati...

Re: Crapless craps
The average hand being shorter follows from the higher edge on the pass line - you are going to make less passes per hand overall, so less rolls per hand as well.

Re: Crapless craps
He is right because there are 6 less ways for a 1 roll pass-line decision (no come-out horn numbers will win or lose a pass line bet in crapless,) which will increase the average pass-line decision length, but not hand length. [if my math is correct...feel free to check/correct] Taking the calculati...

Re: The Five Best Bets at Craps
No, field and DP are independent of one another; they only bar the 12.
There are some places (Reno, I think?) that bar the 2 on don't pass but do pay on the 12.

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
The top one; the pips from both dice form 2 straight lines, or the area between the pips forms a single straight line. You should have hard 10 and hard 4, with 3 and 4 on-axis.
The bottom one is parallel sixes.

Re: What's the Point in Lay Betting?
The six is a pretty easy number to repeat, right? Do you really WANT a Don't bet on the six? The answer is - absolutely. You're going to win that bet five out of six times. Just to clarify so nobody misunderstands, you'll actually win it 6 out of 11 times, but it pays five to six. For those of you ...

You still take action on 6/8 and place it for 6 to either win $1 or break even.
